commented answer | Does anyone else find the "Contact support" function worthless?? I guess it could be my computer, it's old as the hills & sorta tries my patience often... |
asked a question | Does anyone else find the "Contact support" function worthless?? This is not the first time I have submitted a question to support. I fill in all details, click all the suggestions, then at the end where you are given the choice to click, "problem solved" or I still need help, "submit" it refuses to submit, it simply does not work. |

asked a question | Is there an easy way to understand the calendar? Am I the only person here who finds the calendar confusing?? It makes no sense to me, I've read over the calendar basics numerous times, I put a minus on my calendar for every dog I board for every day, but that just doesn't come out right. If I put a plus for every dog I'm boarding that doesn't come out right either. |

commented answer | Has anyone here tried the Coyote Rollers? Thanks for your response. I looked up the company that sells them & watched the video. They certainly do work but only a wealthy person could afford to have it installed! Most of the dogs I sit are too small to go over a fence but we do have coyotes in this area which makes me very uneasy. |

asked a question | Has anyone here tried the Coyote Rollers? Under Rover's Sitting Resources where they're talking about preventing escapes, is the statement, "consider purchasing Coyote Rollers, spinning cylinders that keep a dog from getting over a fence". This is the first time I've heard of such a thing & since I have a long fence & this will likely be pretty expensive, I would want to know how hard it is to install, how well it works, etc. Has anybody here tried this? |
answered a question | Feedback on my profile? Very nice profile! Beautiful photos. I think you did a great job presenting yourself. |
commented answer | What should I do about a dog marking? I have a couple different size male wraps. I go to the Dollar store & get mini-pads. Then I just keep it on dog until I see he has become relaxed enough to stop marking. |
commented answer | How can I book my dog with a sitter in June if the calendar for this month is still not available on the Rover site? I know what Valentina is talking about. When I first started with Rover the calendar only went several months ahead, which was a problem. There must have been a lot of complaints because now you can book many months ahead if desired. If it’s running out of months again there must be a buggy app. |
commented answer | Homeowner's insurance to be cancelled because of dog sitting?? Hi Dianne, I live in Manatee County. After I started doing Rover 3 yr ago I tried several times to get a license & was told that Unincorporated Manatee County does not have an Occupational License, "nor do we anticipate a requirement for them in the near future." So It depends on the county. |
answered a question | Any tips or tricks for giving a particularly wily dog a pill? Vienna sausages do it for my dogs. |
commented answer | Homeowner's insurance to be cancelled because of dog sitting?? Thanks for the info. I'm not worried about adding extra insurance, such as "pet business insurance', that makes sense. What worries me is that according to what I've been told, my present homeowner's insurance would be cancelled, "no questions asked". That seems quite unreasonable. |

commented answer | Homeowner's insurance to be cancelled because of dog sitting?? Thanks for the input, guys. I just find it disturbing that they could just flat out cancel a person's insurance for something like that. |

asked a question | Homeowner's insurance to be cancelled because of dog sitting?? I called my insurance agent & asked if I could take out some extra insurance to cover anything related to dog sitting incidents. She told me, "this is off the record, but if the company that carries your homeowner's insurance finds out that you are dog sitting you will automatically lose your homeowner's insurance, no questions asked." As many Rover sitters as there are in my area, (Tampa Bay area of Fl) I find it hard to believe that they are all w/o homeowners insurance. Is this just a regional thing, or has anyone else encountered this? Surely all Rover sitters are not without homeowners insurance?! |
answered a question | Would you take in a small aggressive dog again? NO. I don't hesitate to tell an owner if they have an aggressive/dangerous dog that needs to find another sitter. Of course I try to do it graciously, or as graciously as possible when you're telling someone they have an unmanageable monster. |

answered a question | When a new dog comes to stay, do you have the owner say goodbye and then leave in front of the dog or do you occupy the dog while the owner leaves unnoticed? As others have said, I have the owner give a brief & upbeat goodbye. Then, I have the dog watch as owner leaves & drives away. I've found that when they watch them leave they don't spend the next hour or so frantically looking for the owner. They know they're gone. Then we go out in the back yard so they can smell around & begin getting familiar with everything. Then back in to settle in with their bedding, treats, & getting acquainted with the other dogs. |

asked a question | I'm wondering how common it is to give (unsolicited) discounts for a long boarding? The client is planning on a month long stay in the near future for her dog while she goes out of the country. She is a wonderful client & has not even hinted that she would like a discount. I just want to do what the most appropriate & business like thing is. What do you guys usually do for long stays? |

commented answer | Can I ask clients for their dogs proof of vaccination records? I always do. Also I always ask the Name of the flea preventative their on. If you just ask "are they on flea preventative" they will say yes. If you ask "what flea prev. are they on" they will be forced to either admit they are not on any or tell you the name. |
answered a question | I just found out that my homeowners will be canceled if I continue...? When I first started Rover I called up my ins. agent & asked if I should have extra insurance because of dog sitting & she told me, "off the record" Do Not Even mention that you are doing this or your insurance will be automatically cancelled. She had no real explanation, just said that's the way it is. |
answered a question | How do you deal with pup parents that are not very honest about their dog? One thing that has helped me is to have an extra M & G just with the dog. Several times now I've had the owner bring the dog to stay for 3 or 4 hr. at no charge, or if they're willing, a day care booking. Not only do I get a better reading of the dog, but when he comes back for his/her long stay they are already feeling at home. I'm sure that's not practical for everybody to do but it works for me. I can see in a few hours any unwanted behavior I need to be prepared for. For instance, one dog recently demonstrated that she loves to pee on pillows, so I've been able to prepare properly for her & saved myself a lot of aggravation. |
