answered a question My dog has separation anxiety - any tips?

Separation anxiety is a real thing. When I started dogsitting and heard about separation anxiety I was sure it was just a made of way of people saying they pay too much attention to their dog. But now that I've watched over 100 dogs, I've had a few that have had some separation anxiety. Here's some tips for things I've tried that have seemed to help. When the dog first shows signs of separation anxiety, try giving it a treat, or suggesting it get some water, petting it, and making it feel comfortable in your home. Another thing I love doing when dogs seem a little anxious, is taking them out for a walk to get them used to me, and the surroundings. They usually enjoy that, and it seems to get their minds of the fact that their owner is gone.

answered a question Is my dog happy?

You can usually tell if your dog is happy by noticing it's behaviors and activity level. If it is sitting around all the time, wnd not being very active then it is probably not very happy. Dogs like to be active and enjoy lots of attention. Some ways to see if your dog is happy are to notice it's tail and see if it is wagging when you call it's name or speak to it. Also to play with it and notice it's interaction. I've noticed dogs may seem unhappy when they are either tired or need to go to the bathroom. But once those things are fixed with proper attention any dog can show signs of happiness.

answered a question Why does my dog whine?

This could be for a number of reasons. But most likely one of the following. It needs to go to the bathroom, is anxious to see another dog or person in the area, wants some attention, or is in some sort of pain. One can usually figure out why the dog is whining by paying it some extra attention.

answered a question Why do dogs go potty in the house after being outside for a long time?

It can be for a number of reasons. If they're young, it could be they they just need to go out more. Or it could be because of a new dog in the territory, or it could be because of food or medicine they're taking that causes them to go to the bathroom more. Those are all things I have experienced with dogs I've watched.

asked a question Can I use photos from dogs I've boarded to advertise for myself?

I am wondering if I can use photos I've taken from dogs stays with me for my Rover advertising, or would I need to ask the owners first?

asked a question What is an appropriate amount to charge for dog sitting?

I recently had two stays over the holidays with pet owners paying 40 a night. But I don't have any other stays lined up, so I'm wondering if I need to lower my rate. Any thoughts? what is an appropriate rate to charge for overnight stays in my home?

asked a question How do I get reviews on my profile?

I'm trying to figure out how to get reviews from recent pet owners whose dogs have stayed at my house. Does anyone know how to do that?
