commented question What Does Everyone Think of the New Long Walk Service Option?

You can just change the rate in your rates section. I thought it was a bit steep.

asked a question Do you repeatedly pick up keys from same customers without being paid for your time?

I have customers that want me to pick up keys about once a month. It takes about an hour of my time there and back and includes all the chatting that occurs. What do you do about this? It seems I have to point out that I'll have to charge for my time if they don't want me to have a key or be willing to hide it somewhere for me to retrieve.

commented answer Does anyone get requests then almost immediately have the client say the regular sitter came through?

I dislike Rover doing that. I am usually driving to a walk or walking or going to the bathroom and will respond shortly. The latest one really wanted me but someone else responded first. It was confusing to her and rude to me.

asked a question Should I tell dog owner my concern for dogs looking nails?

I feel elderly dog has pain with walking due to long nails. I don't want to cause defensiveness or offend as I've had a similar instance of saying something in the past and it didn't go over well. I don't look forward to walking the dog if she'll be in pain. I want the work of course. How would you handle?

answered a question Anyone else hate paypal?

I'd prefer another payment option available. Other companies and individuals use direct deposit all day long.

answered a question New Client, Semi Last Minute Sit, "Will Pay When I Get My Paycheck"?

It's possible she didn't understand that credit card would be required at time of booking and doesn't have one to complete transaction.

answered a question Is Drop-in time for 2 cats 1 hour or 30 minutes?

It is for 30 minutes for any number if pets. It's up to you to add additional pet fee. I will say. However that that Rover does not have additional pet option for cats. This is an error in their system as fast as I can see. So your customer may be seeing the charge for each cat and is why they are questioning. You need to adjust the price with cats only and unfortunately explain to customer that Rover is not versatile when it comes to multiple cats only. My one customer now request for only one of her cats now.

answered a question What if drop-in can't be performed due to road flooding?

The client didn't cancel and we both wanted to have the drop in. She works just a couple of blocks so she can walk if needed to care for dogs. Just want to know how payment should work.

commented question Some dog owners have been telling me that they have trouble locating me on the Rover site to contact and book dog services. What could the problem be ?

Yes, my regular customer cannot find me to rebook and she doesn't appear on my rebook page on the app. I have to desktop or internet to book. The zip code search doesn't work to find me but a city search does. Also, I had an owner request a walk a couple of times thinking I was her walker.

asked a question What if drop-in can't be performed due to road flooding?

If a sitter can't do a drop-in due to flooded roads, how should the payment work. It isn't the sitter's fault. I think the loss should be shared. Is there any Rover documentation on this?

answered a question Booking Scores?

I feel that a good percentage of customers are just inquiring and don't end up booking especially house sits because they got family or whatever do do it cheaper. Not my fault and don't know if that's counted against me. Also not every customer is a repeat customer. I did make a mistake and canceled last notice for house sit per the customer request and took the blame because there wasn't another option. I thought I was giving good customer service by helping the customer do it but that was mistake for my rating. Lesson learned.

answered a question Why would sitter ask to take a picture of the client?

My first thought is safety as well. I take my husband to sit outside first meet and greets.

answered a question What aren't there any pet sitters who refer to care of CATS?

Just ask those who's profile you like. I'm sure most would love to drop in on your cats.

commented answer Do I charge a drop in fee and a walk fee if they want me to do both when I take care of their dog?

I agree. A walk costs more. But I'll do whatever else within the 30 minutes.

answered a question Did you notice that Rover is asking about tipping?

Rover takes enough of a cut.

answered a question Owners mistake about return date makes me double booked for overnight stays. How do I handle this?

You did what you could to make it work. Congrats. I would have the one that made the mistakes dog stay alone overnight but drop in several times during the day. I am no longer available at the time of the new request. They may want a family member to come. My house sits include me being able to come and go during the day. Or... have a trusted backup if the owner allows it.

commented question Aggressive dog won't let me in the house, what do I do?

So how does the dog eat for six days with the muzzle on?

commented question Client Photos Not Showing on Profile?

I have the same question. I have nice photos I uploaded but only 4 not so nice photos from rover cards are showing on my profile from customer prospective. Why bother uploading photos? I'll look at the hidden option you mentioned.

answered a question How do you see the neighborhood the requesting owner is in?

There is a map on the request that shows general area. It is useful if you are familiar with the layout of the town. But there is one 70 mile road for me that looks all the same on the map so I have to ask the customer in that case.

answered a question Drop-ins without Meet-and-Greets?

I prefer meet and greet although I don't like the time without pay part off it. Regular job interviews happen every couple of years. This is much more often. Dogs need to know you with owners present and have thier permission to go with you.

edited answer Do you charge differently for housesitting based on time requirements?

Yes, as previous answer stated, it's a 24 hour time frame. I offer a 12 hour time frame price as well for that extra time. I state that I come and go during the day with three potty breaks that includes one walk. Then stay overnight. But I usually just stay if I can so there's less back and forth. The time spent seems like a lot to me for the pay as well, therefore I ponder stopping the service or raising price. Staying at people houses makes me feel a bit buggy as well. That's where you have to get brave and just say no after the meet if things don't look comfortable and clean. I state during the inquiry that I can stay overnight if it's comfortable.
