Has anyone ever experienced a no-show for a meet-and-greet?

I had my first meet-and-greet no-show last night and zero response from my sent messages. Just curious if anyone else has experienced this?

I've always been in the habit of sending a message the day before or earlier on the day of the M&G to reconfirm plans. Something like "I'm looking forward to meeting you and Bucket tomorrow at 3:00. Let me know if anything changes, and have a great night!" This method has caught all of my potential no-shows before they actually have the chance to stand me up; I've had a couple instances where this has prompted a reply that the family found another sitter or their plans changed and no longer needed services.

I'm sure at some point I'll actually have a no-show, but so far sending a message ahead of time has worked to prompt owners to cancel ahead of time or remind them if they had spaced it.

Yes! Same here, especially if the M&G was scheduled several days prior.

We once had someone (2 women and a kid) show up WITHOUT their dogs for a M&G. We were legit baffled. Afterwards we raised our price slightly because it was two great danes and then they decided not to book with us. I don't get the not bringing your dog thing though. So weird.

Yes! Unfortunately, sometimes pet parents don't have the same priorities we do.

When I have been stood up I generally send an email or text that says something like,"I'm sorry I missed you and Fido today! When would be a good time to reschedule our Meet and Greet?"

With that wording I am not making accusations or placing blame, and am leaving the door open to try again.

Don't take it personally. Who knows - maybe there was actually a good reason!

And has it worked out?

Yes! One response was,"Oh my gosh I totally spaced! I got stuck downtown and can't make it in time! How is next week?" and we went from there. I know it won't happen that way every time, but it was a positive experience both directions.

I have not had no shows, BUT I have had a ton of late shows. I mean hours after. I like to be focused during my meet and greet, and one time someone came right as we sat down for dinner when they were suppose to be there around 3pm. Its very hard to do meet in greets when they work, because they almost always want to come in the evenings, so sometimes I try and do weekend mornings too. I am starting to make set "meet and greet" days.

Yes! As we speak, woman was supposed to be here 15 mins ago with her dog. No answers all day. I texted her hours prior to the m&g and 30 mins beforehand … nothing. What’s unfortunate is that the payout on this person would have been $500+

I’ll give her another opportunity to meet up. Fingers crossed!
