Day care services - do you still offer if you are not home all of the day?

I signed up for daycare, but I am in and out during the week so wondering if that is acceptable? Does a client expect you to be hom with pup all day??

As Deb said, every client's expectations are going to be different. However, if I placed my dog in daycare, I would expect the sitter to be home with him the entire time, doing doggie activities, as well as going on necessary walks. I don't know how many dogs you will accept for daycare, but if you're not home, then there could be problems. Naturally you want to discuss what your service entails with clients prior to booking.

If I have multiple for daycare or walking/drop in clients, I may need to leave a daycare dog unattended briefly if I'm unable to take them all out at once, but whenever possible I'll bring my daycare dog with me on my other errands. Beyond that, the longest I've 'left' any dog for daycare is for bathroom breaks or the occasional shower. The important thing is to discuss expectations with the client before booking the stay so you're both on the same page.

Every client has different expectations, so I'd suggest the amount of time you expect to be away should be discussed before booking, either through the messages or during the meet & greet. To mitigate damage to my home and potential complaints from neighbors, as well as host happy returning dogs, I plan to stay with the dogs when they're at my home (day&overnight). The dogs I've known that need daycare have separation anxiety, so leaving them would not be a good idea and usually I'll only leave for safety reasons if I need to walk a dog that isn't matched to their pace separately.

Each is different, as others have said. Be sure to discuss with potential clients and make sure your plans meet their expectations before agreeing to anything. For example, I sometimes do walks and drop ins in addition to hosting and day care. I also have to drop off and pick up my son from school, but my day care client knows that there are times when I will run out briefly and is okay with that. The fact is, I am home with him the majority of the day, and he isn't left alone long when I do go out. And, even though I may run out for a few mins or so, there is usually someone at home, even if I am not.

My day care basically works like this, I am home except when I need to run out, just as anyone else who works at home or stays at home, so it's comparable to if they were at home with their pet as opposed to it being left alone all day during the work day or in a crate for 8+ hours at a time, like some pets are when their parents go to work.
