Why does the "each additional dog" rate not apply on holidays?

I received a booking request for 2 dogs over a holiday. My rates include a "holiday" rate, and an "each additional dog rate." I expected the booking to reflect one dog to be charged at the "holiday" rate and the second dog to be charged at the "each additional dog" rate. However, the booking reflects both dogs from the same owner being charged the "holiday" rate, making it significantly more expensive for the owner.

Why is the "additional dog" rate not applied, and how do I alter the request to correct it?

Some sitters don't offer discounts over the holidays because it's such a high demand time. Rover's system just defaults to the holiday rate for all dogs for requests during the holiday period. As Tracey said, the rate can be manually adjusted back. (It works the same way from a computer, by selecting modify/cost adjustment from within the conversation.)

Even though I still offer discounts for extended stays and additional dogs over the holidays, I appreciate that Rover defaults to the higher rate, since customers are always happier when they perceive they are getting a good deal (by adjusting the rates down) than when we have to adjust the rates up.

I had the same thing happen yesterday. I'm not sure WHY it's happening, but I manually changed it from the app on my phone. I cannot yet figure out how to do it on the computer. (It's is strange than some things can be done only on the app and other things can be done only on the computer . . .)

On your phone, open the request. In the top right-hand corner, click on "modify". Scroll down to the second pet and click on "rate type" Adjust the rate as needed. (You can also adjust the price from the "cost adjustment" button at the bottom.)

On your computer, on the left side of the screen in your inbox, the stay details are shown. Click on the Edit link beside the Stay Price and make adjustments. I agree with Laura that it looks good to the client when they see the initial price and then you make adjustments.
