Would someone be willing to give me tips on my profile?

Hey there, I am new to Rover but am experienced in caring for cats and dogs. I have a testimonial written by a neighbor for whom I housesat/dogsat for two weeks and have received only one request that the client never confirmed. I don't have a whole lot of pictures on my profile but there are a couple. I was just curious if there's any tips for the way my profile is written or set-up to help garner more clients as it's been a few weeks now. I do understand it is largely a waiting game but I guess I am getting a bit antsy and want my profile to be optimized for whenever I do start getting clients. My current living situation is not suitable for boarding but I am available for walks and drop-ins. Thanks

Rather than focus on waiting for requests to come in from rover, I’m going to encourage you to promote walk and drop in services in other ways. (boarding services represent the corner stone of Rover business)

Since you are going to school, look for areas near there and near your home where you can promote dog walks and drop in visits. Are there local printed or online bulletin boards or newsletters where you can put your information? Are there pet friendly businesses that will allow a place for you to leave business cards or flyers or a tear off sheet with contact info.? Also, you may connect with pet owners while you are out and about: dog parks may be a good spot to meet and chat with people, Let them know what service you’re offering and ask them if that would be of interest. You also might choose to promote your services in other online groups and social media. If you have neighbors who have pets, introduce yourself to them, let them know you want to build your dog/cat business and ask if you might be able to help them.

As Deb said, boarding is the main draw on Rover, the reason people come to Rover. So you might have to explore other methods to generate business.

But I am going to be totally upfront with you. Your limited availability (Mon, Tues & Fri) could be the root of the problem. Generally people want a dog walker on a regular basis. They have jobs and need someone to check up on the pet every day , I've seen other full-time students post here; some manage to arrange their schedules so they can provide pet services.. But if you've blocked out two days a week, then it could be difficult to find regular jobs on this platform.

Welcome to Rover! It sounds like you're off to a good start with your testimonial and a request under your belt. To make your profile even more appealing to potential clients, here are a few suggestions:

  1. List your availability in bullet points to make it easier to read and understand.
  2. Work on your Response Time by enabling text message alerts and aiming to respond to inquiries within a few hours.
  3. Make sure your rates are based on the rates in your area to stay competitive.
  4. In the "Michael's Service Area" section, add specific names of parks, trails, and areas that are known for dog walking to give potential clients a better sense of the locations you can take their pets.
  5. Consider adding a bit more personality to your profile so that clients can get a sense of who you are as a person. This can help them feel more comfortable and confident in booking with you.

Overall, these changes can help make your profile more attractive to potential clients and increase your chances of getting booked. Also it's great to see that you've received helpful feedback from fellow sitters like Deb A. and Karen R. It's always valuable to learn from others in the community, so be sure to take their advice into consideration as you continue to build your profile and attract clients.

Good luck!
