sitter need a business license in CA?

does a sitter need a business license in CA if only one pet is boarded or daycare?

It is best to ask your local authorities. The county (San Diego) determines whether what you provide is a kennel; however, it appears you would have to board at least 7 animals to be considered one. So it might not be considered a business that requires a license. Zoning laws also factor in, affecting your ability to run a business out of your home. That's why you need to check with your local authorities.

Thanks! I called Oceanside city business office and yes they require a business license.. No distinction between boarding one dog. If you use your house for business then a license is needed.

it's different for each county. In my county in WA the county website says I only require a business license if I board 7 or more animals in my home.
