Cancellation due to owner lying?

If I have to cancel a booking due to the dog owner lying about the dog, will I still get paid or will they get a refund?

I can't tell if this is happening now or just theoretical. You haven't indicated what the owner is lying about the dog.

Regardless, I would encourage you to have a M&G with the dog and its owner to go over everything about a booking BEFORE accepting any job. That way the dog's behavior should be known or better known to you. I never accept any dog sight unseen.

As a general rule, you are not going to get paid if you cancel out on a client. So you may want to check with Rover Customer Support at [Edit: Rover’s contact options have changed. Visit the Rover Help Center at https://support.rover.com/ to find the phone number, help articles, or chat with the team] to find out what happens.

You cancel and you won't get paid. Client will not pay you for a stay that didn't happen.
