My pet parent’s lock box is jammed. What do I do?

I have been going to this house for a couple days now and I had a hard time getting the lock box closed yesterday. I almost considered taking the key with me because I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to get it closed, but I hadn’t discussed that with the parent in advance and didn’t want to take the key before speaking to them. I was persistent and eventually got it closed, but when I came back today, I CANT GET IT OPEN. I had to leave to do a couple other drop in visits and then I’m going to go home to try to grab a nail file or something to see if I can fit it in the sides of the box and try to make sure the key is out of the way and see if the door lock is fully closed. I have a feeling the door is stuck somewhere in the middle of open and closed. It’s one of those ones where toy have buttons to press and a clear button that slides and an open button that slides. The clear button won’t budge at all and the number buttons aren’t making the normal clicking sound. I’m not sure what to do and it’s really cold outside. I was messing with it for about 15 minutes before I gave up because my hands were so cold that I wasn’t going to be able to do any good messing with it. I texted the pet parent but haven’t heard back. I’m hoping, worst comes to worst, they might have a landlord or someone who can let me in tomorrow. The owners come back the day after that. Luckily, the pet is a cat who has a gravity dry food bowl and two water bowls that I refilled yesterday, so they should be fine. They wanted me to feed wet food, litterbox, and socialize obviously when I come, but I know that he will be okay (still has basic necessities like food and water) if I miss a day. It’s also Christmas Day, so there’s not a lot of resources or people available to help.

Communicating with the owner is exactly what needed to happen. That’s what Rover staff would tell you. It’s the owners decision if they wanted to call a locksmith or a landlord or someone else who might be able to make entry happen. Since the owner isn’t responding and this cat sounds pretty well set up, I wouldn’t worry about it. If your messages to them did not go through the rover platform, I would send a duplicate to their rover assigned number or on the rover messages, as documentation (in case a dispute re. Services is claimed, so you get compensated for your efforts of going there).
