Rover Scams?

Has anyone received a Rover request from Sarah M regarding an English Bulldog. Apparently her Uncle is moving from Paris, moving here for work. She wanted me to email her Uncle Directly... Which I did fall for but then started to get suspicious why they weren't going through Rover. Email is peoiyund49566@gmail.com

Yes I’ve seen this exact wording on some other posts on this forum. Definitely a scam

Just received a request from sarah this morning. But the dude said it was his nephew that requested it for him.

I just got the same message and I started to email the “uncle” and decided to google his email before continuing

Yes I got the message too. They’re using Brittany now!

Just got this message too. Phone number used is (786)753-6580. "Fracis Pacero" from Paris with an English Bulldog...

Yes this is definitely a scam the same phone number was provided to me. They also got kicked off and I received a message from Rover not to communicate with this person.I almost fell for it I deposited the check but looked up the number because I had suspicion. I called my bank and let them know

Definitely a scam. I was messaged by someone with the exact same wording and was told to email peoiyund49566@gmail.com. The rover account was deleted and I got a message from rover saying not to communicate with that person

I just had them message me. Rachel and her uncle. Their bulldog Lucy. So sad. He wanted me to run errands for him.

He’s using the number (628) 222-7690

Rats, I got the same. Someone named Rose who has an English bulldog named. EddyKing asked me to email her uncle who is relocating from Paris. It seemed suspicious but since “Rose” replied to my question I thought I’d email him. What is the scam though? Besides getting someone’s email address

I just got the exact same thing! So still going on January 2023. Scammer used a name Gavin Hamiltons from Paris with Eddy the English bulldog

He is now using +1 (562) 583-1875

I got the same scam request yesterday from Gavin Hamiltons with an e-mail address and a bulldog named Eddy. I reported it to Rover.

They are using this number now +13322670369. Dog is Fendi. Niece is Joyce

He is now using the name Francis Madanda using a scottish fold cat and niece is Lily! They are also using the number +1 (503) 420-8735

He just contacted me about his 110lb dog Midnight. Promised to move close to me so his dog could have really good service. Offered $250 for drop in service 3 days a week. Which already sounded scammy. Moving from Paris soon he says. midnight1431@icloud.com +1 (208) 614-0089

They've gotten in contact with me as well. Offered the same $250 rate and then $100 extra for picking up supplies for him. He mailed me a check for almost $5000 dollars for payment + supplies with a legit tracking number. I'm also confused what the scam is. His messages seemed detailed and genuine.

Hello! He is still using the name Francis for his scams. His “niece” contacted me today going by the name of Valerie. Asking for a cat sitter and if I can purchase and run errands for him

The new number is 872-201-5146, Neice is Grace, uncle’s name being used is Edward Thuram, and now it’s an English Fold cat named Sandy. They are texting from a 323-458-5744 number

I received the same message except its from Sammie and the contact she provided for her uncle is 8722015146. It's repeat services for a Scottish fold cat.

Everything you wrote points to a scam. The second they mention off-Rover communications should be when you hang it up.

I just had this scammer reach out to me. The “niece” is going by the name of Rachel. Still using the same story of her uncle moving from Paris with his dog Lucy. Does anyone know what their end goal is? Did anyone receive the check they were sending?

This evening I received a booking request from Sarah L., her aunt needed a long term sitter and provided me with a phone number. ( I went along with the scam) I texted the aunt with a spoof number and she responded rather quickly. Asked me to email so she could send instructions.. still waiting..

Just got the same request!

“Hey there, I'm in search of a pet sitter for my uncle who is relocating from Paris to Nashville due to his job. Weekly pay is $250, text him 7867536580 to better relate regarding the hire process.”

I almost fell for this. The name she is using is Dorothy, and says her uncle Francis is moving from Paris.

The uncle sent me a check to buy pet supplies!

I never deposited the check after I got suspicious and stumbled upon this.

Thank you for posting this!

You would have found that check bounced, not immediately, later ... after they asked you to purchase supplies, provide services,and/or send some money to them. I’ve read some fell for that. Oh and then their bank also charges a fee for the rubber check.
