Clients will always contact you first. They will see a list of sitters and select you from there. The order the sitters are presented is based on several factors, like location and availability. Rover also promotes new sitters and sitters who have recently confirmed their availability so they appear closer to the top of the list (there are lots of other factors that influence where you appear, like how many requests you get that you end up booking, but personally I try not to dwell too much on those and just focus on running my business the way that’s best for me and the pets I care for)

Sometimes it just takes a little patience but there are a couple things I can recommend that might help you get your first client:

  • update your availability and confirm your calendar
  • try to get as many testimonials as possible from friends/family/pre-Rover clients
  • make sure your photos are clear, friendly, and professional
