What to do when my dog get bitten by another dog? Is it very alarming?

My dog get bitten by another dog on his nose bridge part. It's been days and the wound already closed. But I noticed that the part where he was bitten swollen up. What should I do? Is there a chance that it's infected? I cant really go to any vet because we live in a very rural area and we don't have vet here. I hope someone could help, thank you.image description

I’m not a vet and I doubt anyone on this forum can give you medical advice, which your dog would benefit from.

However, petco is a partner of rover, so I’ll suggest you may try to ask a vet or their staff online at Petcoach.co (which is powered by petco). If you search, you may find other places that will also chat with you online.

Swelling is pretty much a natural part of most puncture wounds, I've found. Over time, maybe a week or two, the swelling will go down. The main thing you want to be concerned about is infection. I'm no vet either, but have been fostering and sitting dogs for the better part of 15 years and have had my fair share of bites.

I use my nose. Give the bitten area a sniff from time to time. If it becomes infected, it will begin to smell rank. Get ahold of a topical antibiotic, such as Neosporin or a generic brand, and apply it to the affected area (even if you don't smell anything). I find it easiest to use a Q-Tip like applicator to avoid contamination from fingers and such. Good luck!
