Are you aware of Rover scammers?

I have read a lot of the scammer Q&A's on this Rover community after a suspicious booking I received today, and found others had encountered scammers that matched the description of who I was dealing with TO A TEE! Tonight, "Scott" booked me as a dog-walker on a recurring basis, any 4 days of the week at any time that was convenient to me, for his two beagles, beginning in 2 weeks.... With a meet and greet in 2 weeks on a Sunday afternoon at 1pm. He claimed my messages were coming in "zig-zag" on the app and asked for my phone number (silly me gave it to him, figuring sometimes older folks struggle with tech). He asked what my rates were over text message, even though my rates are outlined on my Rover profile. Then added on that he wanted me to make a purchase of over $3,500 of pet supplies for him and bring it to the meet and greet.... with a money order that he would be shipping me.... The pet supplies included several bags of K9 Natural New Zealand raw freeze-dried dog food, several tubs of K9 Power Nutritional Energy Supplement and bottles of an anti-itch spray. All of these details were THE SAME or very similar to what other Rover walkers posted on this Q&A community over the past couple years. Obviously a weird request, set off red flags and prompted me to do some research to discover it was for sure a scam. Trust your gut!

At least you quickly identified the SCAM, but alas not every Rover sitter does!

I got sorta the same thing. He had two great Danes and his accountant sent me a check for $4500 to buy dog stuff. He wanted to know if the funds were available immediately. Then he wanted me to go to Walmart and buy money orders and FedEx the money to a Shopper in another state.

The check bounced and now he wants me to call him bc it's urgent. He said his name is Brain and a pilot for Ukraine air rescue.
