Working all days for half pay and paying for insurance that excludes us. How do other sitters feel about this?

If I board someone's dog 9 am to 9am for two days and end up doing do a whole day of daycare on pick up day, from 9 am to 4 pm, I should get my standard daycare fee of 32 not 16 bucks. Is this upsetting to other sitters?

I'm also thinking it's never ok to take ANY fees from sitters either because Rover is used for the insurance that only benefits owners. Minus the supplies I buy, I don't even make a dollar an hour on boarding stays, I don't like being taken advantage of on pick up days, and fee structure on top of it.

The insurance is almost never used, None of my owners have ever used it and it should be capped on extended stays. It should be made clear to owners that the insurance is their benefit, their responsibility and it should be clear on the paperwork, book keeping, and policy that sitters will net their entire stated pay rate.

I charge 32 dollars a day. How is the owner paying this fee and not me when it's taken out of my pay for labor I provided? 07/16/2022 - 07/17/2022 Dog Boarding for ** Stay Price: $32.00 Rover Fees: $6.40 My pay $25.60

Sitters should get their whole pay and fees taken from owners only.

Rover anticipates revenue in the range of $25 - $27 million, a year... they'd be making NOTHING without the people providing the labor.

After doing a quick search of your area, there are Not a lot of sitters listed (less than 1 page after zooming in the map) and most of these appear higher priced... while there can be a huge difference provided by one sitter versus another, it may be worth considering if your service rate should be increased?

It appears you adjusted day care rate to address your other concern about daycare. If not, use the Cost Adjustment area before clicking Book It Now to modify services appropriately.

Re. Rover’s fee, there’s no sign of that is going to change. For clients sourced from outside the rover (connect through referrals, business cards, etc.) you can choose to book yourself and keep 100%. For people who find you through rover, meaning you wouldn’t connect another way, consider that 80% is better than 0%. No sense being upset about the fee structure which none of us can change. Rover is always recruiting and adding sitters to database.

The reason you only received $16 for the "daycare" portion of the stay is because it was booked as boarding for 2 days plus extended care as a result of the pickup times entered into the system. Up to 8 hours over, the owner pays 50% of the nightly charge. 8+ hours, then they pay for another night of boarding.

It would take some manipulation to force the system to book it as 2 nights of boarding plus daycare and I expect the client wouldn't be agreeable,
