How to make an hourly rate for "house sitting"???

I have a house sitting request that I have accepted...done deal. The request is technically one day but its for 13 hours total. Break that down with my hourly rate and, holy man! they are getting a deal. I realized I should have said something prior to accepting the job but it got me wondering how I can change the rate on my profile to something like, "anything over 8hrs for a one day house sitting will be an additional $10/hr"...or something like that. Technically with 13 hours, that is like 2 days as far as the housesitting rate goes. I see no place to list this ahead of time on the profile. Will it just be something I will have to discuss with the client and modify?

13 hours = 1 full day/night of boarding or house sitting. I would not discount it one cent because it essentially takes up your entire day. Also, you cannot look at hourly when it comes to those two services.

For house sitting, I don't know how or why you are viewing this as two days. For example, maybe you only need to show up at 7 pm and they've told you that you can leave at, say, 8 am. That is totally consistent with the charge for one night of house sitting. In fact, YOU are getting off easy, not the client because they're entitled to 24 hours of care and you get to go home early.

With Rover's new extended care rate, a customer having an overage of 2-8 hours is charged 50% of the sitter's nightly rate. For 8+ hours, the owner gets charged for another full night. So it is entirely consistent with the ranges Rover has established .

I am just saying it is "like" two days...I don't count the hours I sleep in my mind if its an overnight.Still think an hourly rate should be an option...my time is valuable. I do bring things to do and the dog needs are priority but most dogs like to sleep a lot also...its hard to be idle.

This is something you would have to discuss with the client before booking and modify before clicking book it now.

You know the market in Michigan best, but good luck getting $10 an hour after eight hours.

Would you pay that for your dogs?

For pet sitting, it’s not advisable to look at it as an hourly rate.

13 hours would be booked as 1 night/day (not 2). Rover’s loose framework for Both House Sitting & Boarding is that each night/day is for up to 24 hours.

As stated, yes I would have to discuss with the owners prior. And $10 was just a for instance. And yes, I would pay that for my dogs. I see your point...but 13hours, how many walks can I do and how many projects could I bring....its a long day. I still think there should be an hourly option. Thx
