Does Rover allow owners to confirm and pay in last minute even few hours before the booking?
Hi. I found it frustrating and inconvenient that Rover doesn't give owners a deadline to confirm and pay for the booking.
2 days ago, an owner sent me a repeated booking request for house-sitting which was supposed to take place today. I modified the price and accepted the booking yesterday morning. I didn't receive a confirmation from the owner yesterday. So from my past experience with the previous booking with him, I thought he had changed his plan and no longer needed the sitting today. But today, he messaged me that he no longer needed the sitting and would like a refund. Then I found out that he confirmed and paid for the booking few hours before the requested start time. I didn't turn up as I only found out 2 hours after he messaged me so I agreed to fully refund him.
I was shocked and felt really bad. All my previous bookings were confirmed and paid in advance. This was my first time having a booking confirmed and paid just few hours before it should have started. I know it's part of my fault as well that I forgot to decline the booking when he didn't confirm and pay yesterday. It seems that Rover allows owners to pay and confirm last minute even a minute before the booking, which creates inconvenience and misunderstanding in my case.
I wonder if Rover could prevent any last minute confirmation and payment from owners, or would the requested booking automatically be expired if the owners didn't confirm and pay the day before the booking.
