Family wants me to drop one of two dogs at kennel tomorrow because she has damaged some things in the house AND she wants me to reimburse them for the 2nd dog fees? should I?

These people have not trained their 18 month old dog well and even though I am suppose to leave both dogs in the house, not crated for up to 4 hours 2 x per day... The younger dog chewed up my shirt part of the stairs, a plant and part of a dining chair today. I was only gone 2.5 hours the first time and she has large chew toys and similar to rawhide items to work with. the 2nd time I was gone for 3 hours closed every single door and thats when she went after stairs and dining chair. Client claims she has only chewed on a box or two once or twice recently and never does this stuff. She also said she was a great walker and even with my training lead I can't get her to walk right. So I have over 40 5 star reviews and I'm sure she is not going to be nice to me in review if I dont give her back some money...but I have a 7 day cancellation policy and Her dog ruined a 30 dollar shirt and she is definitely not being honest about her dogs regular behavior. Anyway even if I give her money back I bet my review will hurt me. I want to do the right thing but this is also my full time job now and they are well off and bringing her to kennel that costs over 100 per night while I charge a little over 60 for both. What should I do?

I feel for you. I have a pup right now also with behavior problems. I suggest you run this one by the "Rover" staff to at the least let them know what's going on. Don't you dare give the owner one dime back. In fact she should be charged more for your trouble. It is not your job to provide transportation for her dog to a kennel (which she should have done in the first place). I would modify the request and get her approval on additional charges to cover your liability. Don't worry about getting a bad review. With some people you could use a pure gold doggie poop bag and would still complain.

Rover doesnt seem to give you an option to call anymore unless its emergency? Sent email & got a 1 sent response telling me to read cancellation policy. Your definitely right ...this am she would not go in car voluntarily for kennel, I had to pick her up and she ended up Peeing in my car!! ugh

If you haven’t already, definitely call Rover - you can discuss with support and they’ll note on the file.

I looked at your rate schedule and saw you’re only charging $10 extra for the second dog. If you decide to: you could authorize rover to only refund the number remaining days of the second ($10) dog fee and also add the transportation fee to take it to a kennel.

Since the younger dog is only 18 months old and a lot of people have been at home with their dogs for the past 18 months, she might not have been able to judge what I would call puppies behavior. Generally, Puppies can’t be trusted! Until you know how a dog is going to behave it’s always better to protect your property by taking some precautions. It sounds like this may be a house sitting, where the client’s items were damaged because she didn’t take enough precaution/ protective measures. Don’t worry about that damage.

thx for your advise. Since now the dog has also peed in my car as we arrived at dog kennel only 2 miles away I am not refunding any $. She already said she would pay for my chewed up shirt and that is $30 so not sure Y she expected to get $ back. I will have to deal with neg. review if they choose.

W/43 clients leaving 5*, don’t stress about reviews. I hoped & glad to hear that she’ll reimburse for shirt. You’re entitled to charge for the transportation service& could submit an add-on booking modification/Or you could nicely tell her about peeing & hope she’ll tip more. Future=dogdiapers 4car
