Anyone else absolutely hate the new Stripe service?

I absolutely hate this. I used to use the Paypal transfer. It was immediate, I could parse the money after it went to Paypal where I wanted. I could leave it in Paypal, transfer some or all to my bank account, or a couple of different accounts. I get one choice with Stripe and it takes days. Just wondering if anyone else dislikes it as much as I do.

Yep, its terrible. They keep the money in transition much longer.

While there is a more extended period when we get the money, I like direct deposit.

I’m a full-time, nearly fully-booked sitter, so for me, it’s like getting paid at a 9-5 job, but it’s more frequent than two weeks. In that case, I don’t have much of an issue with it.

It’s nice not having to transfer my money manually all the time.

Time to revolt and call Customer Support [Edit: Rover’s contact options have changed. Visit the Rover Help Center at https://support.rover.com/ to find the phone number, help articles, or chat with the team], but we all know Rover won't do a thing about it

I agree. It sucks! I've never waited this long with PayPal.

I absolutely HATE the control Rover takes over the money the SITTERS earn! They have now withheld money I have already earned and all future earnings and keeping it to force me to send ID to some company called Stripe. Rover keeps saying it is "your" business and gives advice on how to grow "your" business, but they control my money my business is making and then don't support sitters at all if they get hurt or their property is damaged by pets we are taking care of.

I perfectly agree with your opinion!

I am also so frustrated about stripe. My guess is they are struggling financially and need to earn more short term interest on $$ from our clients, this is called “float”. It is my understanding that when our clients book they pay. Why not begin process earlier if it takes longer. I bounced a check because of it the first few bookings.

Todd: Very surprised you used the term float, as it typically is known to people only in banking or cash management. But playing the float isn't the reason that Rover collects payment from customers and waits until 2 days after a job's completion to pay its sitters.

Todd: It is held in case of disputes between the client and sitter. Any earned interest is going to be offset by credit card fees. Getting back to Stripe, I received my money in the same amount of time as with Paypal.

I talked to a customer service person at rover and they told me that pay out is always on Tuesdays. If your booking ends after a Tuesday you have to wait the entire week for payment. However on their website the explanation is that Payout works the same as with PayPal i.e. 2 days after the stay is over. It is currently April 10 and I'm still waiting on payout for a gig that ended April 6. This makes me think that The customer service rep was right about the Tuesday thing.

Comments

No, it is not true. If your booking ends on a Sunday, then payout will be on Tuesday and the funds will be in your bank account the next day. Same exact experience as with Paypal.

I disagree…I have recurring walks on Wednesday and Thursday each week and normally I would be paid Saturday with pay pal but I have to wait until the following Tuesday. That is quite a big difference when I live basically paycheck to paycheck.

I received my payout in EXACTLY the same amount of time as with Paypal. The balance transferred 2 days after the end of the sitting job automatically to Stripe. It showed in my bank account the next day. Weekends are not business days in the financial sector, including banks, Paypal or Stripe.

I also have an issue with the new payment system. It takes longer to receive payment and harder to track for book keeping.

I am not loving how the money disappears for a few days..... then pops up in my account unannounced. Makes it so much harder for me to do bookkeeping/ manage finances and assure I am being paid correctly and in a timely manner. Considering Rover doesn't release our payment until 48hours AFTER we have finished the entire stay of a pet it seems sketchy.

Comments

Agreed! Especially the keeping track of payments and Rover cards. If this were my only job maybe it wouldn’t be so hard to verify but I have several other things going on besides this.

This is my first time to use new system payout. At first, I was upset that I might made a mistake filling in my bank account number, etc. Because my earned money disappear and showed $0.00 on Rover website. (That’s why I came here for looking for an answer) so, is it true that if I wait a few days like you guys did, it will be transferred to my bank account? I like PayPal system we had before.

Yes, it is true.
