Is anyone tracking expenses using an app?

I’m looking for an app to track expenses and mileage for my Rover business. I downloaded Strive and it has great resources for other app based business like rideshare, real estate, sales, entertainer or delivery but nothing for Rover. the reason I want one that has pet sitters in mind is to help find tax deductions.

I use a simple spreadsheet. I track mileage (round trip), how much I made for the booking, and if I'd book that family again.

I use MileIQ for mileage which is my most significant business deduction; for all other expenses which are minimal, I use a simple spreadsheet

I thought in order to itemize, you have to have more than $5,000 in deductions. So if you don’t, then you are just supposed to take the standard $5,000 in deductions. Maybe you have that much idk. But I know I do not…so is there any point of me keeping track of mileage?

Thank you! Your comment is helpful, it's just me and my pet sitting radious is 4 miles.

Also remember that you can deduct for Home Office Expenses when you file your tax return. Just make sure you have a home office that qualifies, meaning a dedicated area you use for Rover business. This includes any marketing, scheduling, communications with clients, etc. Also you MIGHT be able to deduct a small portion of your cell phone & internet monthly bill. SMALL portion, 40% or less. If this is a part-time gig, then 25% should suffice for the IRS.

Try Keeper Tax. $16/month or you can subscribe for a year which I think is $168. If you subscribe for a year, they will do your taxes for you. Also, a personal bookkeeper will be assigned to you which is really helpful. He/she will need your account info (that’s how deductions are found) but totally secure.
