How to politely decline a rebooking?

I am having a difficult time with a booking. I thought I could handle it during the Meet and Greet but the job has been very challenging. How do I decline a future booking without offending the client? She is expecting me for another booking (dates not settled yet) in about a month and I think if I give her enough notice she can book with another sitter.
Should I tell her during the booking or after? She is a very nice client!

Tell her when she picks her dog up. It's hard, but if you don't you'll get a nice review and then feel too guilty to turn her down next time. Don't tell during the stay or she'll worry until she gets back.

If you do decide to give them a reason, I will normally make sure I tell them something positive about there pet first and put the focus more on me vs their pet, then end with something positive about their pet.

This also will help the owner know where there dog needs a little help and an idea of what sitter they should look for next.

(Example a dog who needs more training. Letting them know that he is a good boy but he does push the boundaries on what he can and can not get away with. I think that he will do better with a sitter that only takes one dog at a time. This way they can give (dogs name) the one on one attention that he really needs. But he is a good boy, such a love. ) :) Good luck!

If she hasn’t returned for her pet yet, the best time is to tell her when she does. Something along the lines of thanking her for choosing you to care for her pet, (Pause),You realize now that you are not a good match for future bookings. Keep your tone polite and firm. It’s completely your choice if you want to provide a reason- you are not obligated to. If you do, I’d suggest keeping it light. Some pet owners handle feedback well / others do not and can try to retaliate in review.

Thank you so much! I agree, pets are like their babies. Hope it goes smoothly!
