Being forced to use stripe?

Is anybody else on the site irritated about being forced to use stripe?

We have an established account with PayPal this is where our business goes through why on earth are the people that run Rover forcing us to use another payment system???

It doesn’t seem to me like they thought this out very well. You don’t treat your customers this way and we are in fact Rover‘s customers.

Comments

Agreed. Hate is and haven't used Rover since they required it.

PayPal is not starting any taxes end of year, that is propaganda. Lookup (stripe complaints). hundreds on each sight reporting theft of assets. Stripe is an overseas company, not bound to Americans laws, many complaining about being 'deleated" with no warning. Stipe is about control, and theft.

I am really upset about this. The fact that they did not even ask sitters is also unacceptable. Do you know there is no way to e mail Rover? How do you email them if you have a concern? I was told there is no e mail address, What can we do, they are totally unconcerned with our comments?

This is awful!! I was just made to change from PayPal and entered my banking info. It’s been over a week and still haven’t gotten my payment for two sittings! They’re blaming my bank but PayPal nor my bank has ever had an issue transferring the money before. This a horrible transition!! Fix it Rover

Im having such a problem with it. I haven't been paid in a month, because it keeps returning or not processing. Its not my bank, its Rover.

Will someone please explain to me why it takes over a week to get paid by Rover/Stripe when it’s been paid upfront, amd a tip added. First it’s 48 hours to post (which it didn’t on my first sit) then a week later is the deposit date. It’s unfair. Anyone’s thoughts?

OMG this is more than horrible! I’m not giving my bank account and SS number over internet. I can’t accept anymore bookings through them. Everyone try The Neighborhood site. You can advertise services for free!!!

I’m telling my potential customers I’m not able to book anything because of a payment issue with Rover.

Well, this is scary. I have my first meet and greet on Saturday. Scary to see this.

Don’t trust stripe!!

Contracted with Rover for over 3 years and rarely had payment issues until Stripe became involved, and now our only choice for payment. . Expressed concerns about delays in payment many times. According to Rover support, our money is being “processed”. BS: Stripe is profiting by holding our money.

Rover 20% fee, 48-hour waiting period. Stripe indefinite waiting period, closed on weekends, no support, short-term investing, making their money by holding our payments. Stripe has been holding “processing” my $500 tip for over 4 days and Rover support failed to answer as to why. It’s not my bank.

Stripe is not depositing our money right away. It should be on my account day 2. Rover said it paid out, but it's not in my bank account.

Hi Lova, did calling help? I'm having the same issue!

So I'm having this issue ? Not getting paid through STRiPE. Any advice on how to fix???

Heather, you need to call Rover at [Edit: Rover’s contact options have changed. Visit the Rover Help Center at https://support.rover.com/ to find the phone number, help articles, or chat with the team]

My dame question and thanks for the number. It’s unfair really, Rover has been paid and we aren’t within a reasonable period. It seems 48 hours is plenty.

They aren’t keeping to their end of our agreement.

Yes. I started previous thread. So far, I only read one person that loves using Stripe.

I have since read that all mobile payment apps are taxing over $600 (so that likely was Not the motivating factor behind the change away from PayPal). Still, many have voiced that they’re Satisfied with PayPal and not wanting to connect another provider with all their identity and financial/banking info.

In the coming year PayPal will be taxing you at the end of the year for any transactions from a single entity greater than $600. Personally I am thankful to have my money routed directly to me instead of through yet another entity first. Just will take an adjustment to track these transactions.

I was supposed to have the money transferred to my bank account today. Rover app shows I have a balance but I can’t withdraw. How long does it take for stripe to deposit into my bank account?

I saw that is says after set up you need to give it up to 5 days. But that sounds like your money may be stuck in limbo and worth reaching out to support.

I absolutely loath the new stripe payout method, I already report and pay taxes on my rover income so having to wait longer to circumvent something I already do is absolutely ridiculous. In my opinion we should have been given the option to chose.

agreed. hate it and haven't done a single job since they required it. I WILL NOT give out my SSN to a third party. There are other ways to verify a bank account.

Daniel, asking for your SSN is NOT for verifying your bank account. It is because Stripe and Paypal need to report any earnings over $600 to the government now. Paypal probably already has or will require you give them your SSN.

Yes- PayPal increased their fees. Zelle would be the best option and should be considered.

Gail, neither Paypal nor Stripe charge us (the recipient) any fees on Rover transactions. As a seller on other sites, I know that Paypal's fees have not increased and set the standard for all payment processing sites.

Yes. Really hate that. I pay for 2 other merchant accounts already. Not thrilled I have yet another fee to pay.

Horrible situation that sitters have been forced into providing ID to a third party like Stripe. Rover partnered with Stripe, not us. Rover should have just made a smooth transition when forcing everyone to go from PayPal to direct deposit. Withholding money earned certainly should be illegal. I think Rover will eventually implode from dissatisfaction of pet owners and pet sitters. They really blew a (fairly) good thing.

Agree!!! I always paid my taxes anyway, so it’s not a matter of taxes. It’s a matter of forcing us to do something we don’t feel comfortable with.

I don’t think I’ll be using Rover either.

Me neither. Even though I have some money stuck in my account, I rather let it go.

Is everyone here upset about stripe because now you're forced to pay taxes??

Comments

It wouldn't make any difference because Paypal has to report your earnings too.

It wouldn't make any difference because Paypal would have had to report your earnings.

That's what I figured, but based on some of this thread it seems like some weren't.

The Federal law changed for online earnings effective for 2022. The minimum for reporting by Paypal and others went from $20K to a mere $600.

We shouldn't be taxed as an Independent Contractor. It’s a actually against the law. We then would be considered employees.

Gail, sorry but no. it is not against the law at all. A person earns income from any source, it is supposed to be reported and subject to any taxes. There is no relationship between this concept and being a company's employee.

Nope. I pay my taxes on everything, even on the cash I get. So not at all… Upset because I don’t like to be forced to do something I don’t want to.

I created an account with Chime JUST for this purpose. I refuse to let Rover have access to my personal checking account. So, if Rover doesn't want to use PayPal, I'll play ball with them for a little while. If they give me problems about using Chime, they'll be getting a call from me to give me a GOOD reason for changing how they pay me.

Comments

Did you call? I am in same situation. I was told it would be resolved by the end of the day and never got a call back.

Since I used Chine, I have never had an issue being paid by Rover.

Do you still need to use Stripe with Chime?
