Stripe for payment: Your thoughts?

coming soon: https://support.rover.com/hc/en-us/arti…

Looks like no more choices for sitters re. Payments via rover

Comments

This is the biggest mistake I've seen from Rover corporate yet. Killing the PayPal option is just stupid. There must be money being kicked back to key people in Rover corporate to get them to do this. I expect a number of sitters will jump ship because of this. I'm now looking for another service

Although there could be some financial incentive for rover to push All payments to Stripe, another possibility & my hunch is that Stripe is more aligned with electronically documenting all the money exchanged (focused on recipients, to ensure taxed accurately).

Has anyone had an issue getting payment from stripe to your bank ? It has failed several times. My banking info is correct, I asked Rover and they said contact my bank. I have Wells Fargo…but I don’t think they would stop an incoming payment ?

I’m really upset with this change. Please keep the PayPal option.

I also just found out it takes two weeks to get your payment. Why do you think we can wait this long? Two weeks after the job ends? This is really not ok. I need my money to be available when I get paid.

Also, I called stripe to see why it takes so long and was actually told by the company that Rover made a bad choice switching to stripe. I hope they read this and fix this situation. When a company’s own employees say to avoid it, that really means something.

Yea. It's already awful how little we make per hour... This was just another action that shows our voices don't matter.

oops, big brother is watching..

My payments are failing and now my money is sitting with Rover and inaccessible. I haven’t talked to my bank yet. Not happy since it’s almost a week now.

If you have $ on Rover still Before it reaches 1/31/22 , make a paypal Cash out that way That seems to be the only option that pops up on payment options . You can even request a check, even with an online bank. They have a routing number the online banks.

I switched to Stripe and haven't gotten paid yet, even though my payment history for last two services marked as "fulfilled". I reached out to Rover's customer support via email and called them, but nothing. I have other bookings coming up, might cancel them since I don't know where my money is goin

I noticed that it will take 5 days to reach our bank account whereas it took 3 days with paypal. Why the additional time? I hope that someone from Rover addresses these questions.

😡😡😡😡😡😡

Omg I’m so glad I came across this because I’ve been dealing with the same issue! It’s been past 3 days and my money is still not in my bank account. I contacted rover and they said that they don’t have my earnings because it’s been fulfilled but where is it if it still isnt in my bank account?

They’re very fast to take that 20% off our earnings but not very fast to give us what WE earned from the work WE put in. I’m thinking about getting off this app. We got bills to pay. I don’t need a company messing with my money.

I hate this Stripe option. It’s bad enough we had to wait 2 days AFTER we fulfilled our obligations, but now I’m being told 5-7 days to go into my bank. PayPal was 2 days like clockwork. So disappointed and upset about this change.

I agree! I hate the change! Why should we have to wait even longer for money we worked for!! Two days is long enough. With PayPal my money was deposited right after midnight on the 2nd day and now still waiting! For the alleged “70%” of people that voted for this. Let them have it, I don’t want it!

I'm upset. PayPal was working fine. Now I got paid on the third day, another recent booking is giving me five days, when with PP I was used to getting paid on the second day.

Add me to the list of people having payout issues. I have not been paid through Stripe processing once. I'm owed for five bookings and close to 1K

Terrible so far.

Stripe has been a HUUUUGGGEEE pain! I had so many problems getting it set up in the beginning, and now I’m having problems with it again. I have funds ($480) in limbo, and my client from that booking said she wasn’t even able to tip me.

On top of this, I am not even able to accept new bookings. I had a meeting with a prospective new client last week. How unprofessional does it look that we can’t even make the booking?! This was supposed to be a recurring booking. Rover doesn’t care cuz they’ll just find another sitter in the platform. I’m losing money getting jerked around. I’ve been on the platform for 5 years and have only 5-star reviews. I have several repeat clients who count on me, and I have long term relationships built with the cats and dogs who I sit. I can’t even book with those guys. I’ve been a dedicated rover sitter and they have made it clear they aren’t dedicated to me.

Rover needs to give us other options. I’d love to go back to PayPal. Even checks would be easier at this point. As a private contractor, and not an employee, I should have access to my funds, and I should be able to take bookings. Rover treats me like I’m disposable, and that’s not any way to run a site like this.

Every one need to submit a complaint with the Consumer Protection Agency the Federal Trade Commission and the BBB when they get to bombarded with complaints and are required to respond to these agencies they'll get it fixed I'm submitting mine today

Comments

Dustin: your comment seems best if started on a new thread- most readers will not find it buried here. That said, I am not convinced that reports to these agencies would change anything here.

I’ll be looking into just that. Deb A, you’re probably right to a degree, but if enough people complain, the squeaky wheel will get the grease. The was an $18mil lawsuit in California that Rover apparently lost, and they aren’t able to charge the twenty percent. That’s what I see online though.

I’m not convinced CPA, FTB, and BBB are the best places to submit complaints for change. Courts and lawsuits definitely get attention. I saw notice of Sportsman v. Rover and thought it was pending litigation. I appreciate you pointed out settlement. And 1-2months later, rover charges CA client more!

When I returned to Rover this year to start pet sitting again I noticed that PayPal option was gone!! I was sad. I think Stripe takes awhile for the payment to go through. It seems PayPal was alot faster in depositing the money.

This may be why some people are not getting their payment:

Phishing Stripe Sign-in Page If they enter their credentials, the attacker now has access to their account, giving them the power to change bank information, redirect incoming payments, and send fraudulent payment requests.

It’s totally unreliable! I think we should start thinking about taking legal action.

They stole about $17,000 from our NON-PROFIT association that runs a sports league for CHILDREN. This company stole $17,000 from CHILDREN! Parents register their children for a sports league through our association and Stripe is the payment processing service we used to process the parents' payments for their children to take lessons and play in the league. All of a sudden a year ago Stripe stopped transferring payment money to our bank account and we have not been able to get that money transferred. They provide a constant stream of excuses when we email them about it, all of which are false and we can refute with data and facts. They said our website didn't contain required information about products/services, pricing, return/refund policies, and contact information. We sent them the * to our LeagueApps website and provided screenshots from the website that showed

Phishers have been targeting Stripe customers for a while now as seen from users and researchers' reports [1, 2, 3, 4, 5] and this just goes to show that users should always pay attention when handing over their personal information over the Internet. Stripe gave refunds to my customers without them

Not really understanding why anyone's tail is twisted in knots over the waiting period. While Rover hasn't been too proactive in monitoring negative complaints, not really feeling the effects of this. We still get paid reliably and consistently as ever. If there was a delay of over a week, sounds more like user error to me. Gave them all the info they asked for, for paid in 3 days.

My PayPal got hacked recently and someone in Portugal attempted to charge $1200 to me. Plus, Congress erased the paypal 1099 loophole for those earning under 20, 000 usd a year in electronic payments. So Stripe may be the best option they had remaining but consumers are acting as though rover actively switched. I would be curious to hear river's side. Certainly their keeping the cash flow for an extra day, rather than raising commissions, is a win for our side if that's what they were faced with, but we don't know so why assume it's all bad?

I never put my info into Stripe and I am still getting payments straight to my bank account from Rover. I think that using Stripe is just an extra security measure but I am not sure....

When I look at the reasoning Rover switched to stripe, they say it was based on 70% of sitters saying they wanted direct deposit. Who is this 70%? I was not asked NOR was I informed of the change until I noticed I wasn’t getting my payment. I check my account just to find out I have to sign up with stripe. In addition to that, Rover does NOT show up on my stripe account so I can’t even check on there where my funds are. This is not a bank issue, this is a Rover/stripe issue. Rover should communicate with the people who keep this company running, us. Now I have missing payments & bills due overdue. If this isn’t fixed I will take my clientele elsewhere.

I get Rover holds my payments for 2 days after a job is completed. This is what I agreed to. What I find ridiculously lacking in thought is that I’ve been waiting for my payment to be transferred via Stripe for 6 days!! After 5 years I’m finished with Rover. They just shouldn’t mess with people’s $

Yeah for the 20% they charge, nothing shows for it. They charge the owners more than that too. I got bit by a dog last year and realized that sitters aren’t protected at all under the terms of service. A ton of articles on line show that the pet parents aren’t protected either

I'm not happy at all and I absolutely love Rover. I do think the Stripe option is great but it should have been added as just that, an option. Paypal worked for me because I actually would leave a portion in my paypal to use for certain things. I've used them in the past for business and there are reasons why I stopped using them.

Comments

Stripe wants my SSN and permission to monitor my bank transactions and share that info with 3rd parties. ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE. After 4 years I will be forced to stop using rover. I implore ALL SITTERS READ STRIPE TERMS AND CONDITIONS. And now 7-10 days until $ is received? SMH.

Stripe is awful It takes forever to get the funds into my account! I need the money now not a week after a booking ends! It is horrible!

Still not paid after three months because of the change to Stripe. Rover is refusing to pay me.

Stripe and Rover have been withholding over $1,200 for 17 days!! I need my funds to be transferred to my account which I was forced to set up with Stripe 17 days ago! I can’t pay my bills nor feed my children! How is this ok?? I keep posting, emailing, calling for help and still no money!

I have not received a dime for 3 sittings this month. One client tipped me $50, not seeing that either. I have called and emailed multiple times and get told that something is wrong with your account, what is wrong?? Rover doesn’t know. I just keep.hearing wait 5 days and see if you get paid.

I had to deal with this last year, and they’re doing something again. I’ve been waiting for a week to get my money. They should have more than one payout option. PayPal was working, but stripe is really unreliable. There is no way to contact them except email. This seems really sus.
