Would you go to a dog owner's home prior to booking as a test run?
I recently received and accepted a booking request for house sitting sometime next month. I met these dog owners in a park first and then at their home prior to booking. I was somewhat annoyed that they asked me to meet at their home so early when the booking was nearly a month away, but I went anyways (I typically like to meet the owners at their home the week prior).
When I met with them at their home, they mentioned doing a trial or test run either where I come to their home during a workday (I work remotely right now) or spend the night at their place on a weekend.
I said no to spending the night at their place on a weekend outside of a booking. Unless I am booked for a weekend, the weekends are MY time. I reluctantly said I could come during a weekday as a trial run or for the dog to get used to me.
They haven't contacted me to do this yet, but if they do, I was planning on having them book it as an extended drop-in or house-sitting visit. I spent ample time with them at their home and addressed any plausible concerns they may have had so I don't understand their need for this extra visit beyond the booking itself. It feels demanding and somewhat inconsiderate of my time otherwise.
Am I justified in my viewpoint on this or should I accommodate a free trial stay beyond the meet and greet?
