Clients dog bit me randomly, what do I do?

Hey, I have a dog that was listed as “food sensitive” and owner had said that he gets grumpy. I was cleaning my floor near the dog and he suddenly turned around and snapped at my face, he caught my ear and chest and I’m bleeding.. I’m wondering if I should let the owner know? I’m a bit shaken up as I’ve worked with aggressive dogs but have never had such a bipolar dog before (went out of his way to snap at me when I wasn’t that close to him and he wasn’t eating or guarding toys, he’s been fine for 4 days) .. im not sure if it’s my fault as I could’ve moved him before cleaning but at the same time didn’t expect him to react over nothing when he’s only labeled as food aggressive?

Very sorry to hear that this happened to you, Kayleigh, and it doesn't sound like it is your fault in any way.

The incident needs to be reported and documented. You should contact the owner as well as Rover's Trust & Safety team at 888-727-1140. Also, you may want to see a doctor or emergency care facility since you said that the dog's bites broke your skin. They may need to see the dog's most recent medical records.

I don’t think it’s your fault. Rate the dog and comment in there on the rating system that the dog bit you. You can rate them 5 stars and put completely private information for Rover to see so that the next sitter knows that they are dealing with a dog with aggression issues. Sitters are entitled just as much safety as the pets and owners. It’s not your fault your here asking questions and trying to find out what to do which means you are a caring sitter who wants to do the right thing.

Correction: The next sitter does not see any information on the dog provided by the previous sitter. Only Rover staff gets rating info. The next sitter doesn't see any notes about behavior.

I wish they’d ban after an aggression report. Especially breaking skin.
