Can an owner cancel because she doesn't like my house or dog?

I had a booking scheduled for today - the owner only said it's an old chihuahua that bites, nothing else prior to booking, and declined a meet and greet. She showed up today (unannounced at that), looked around, and said "This isn't what I expected. You have big dogs."

My profile clearly shows my dogs and also lists their breed, weight, and a picture. Will she be able to get a refund for this? I feel like this isn't my fault. Has anyone else had this issue before, and is there any way to prevent it in the future?

This is why I always do a meet and greet beforehand. If they aren’t willing to do one they’re probably a monster client like this.

I just had my very first client, who declined a meet and greet so we did a virtual m and g. He got to the house, wasn’t very friendly. I had my dogs leashed in the front yard. Needless to say, my dogs picked up on the energy and our blind golden retriever did not accept the dog. The owner said he wasn’t going to leave his dog because he had small children and didn’t want his dog to learn “aggressive behavior”. My dogs are the friendliest dogs ever. I will definitely demand a meet and greet or I won’t be a sitter.

Can a client cancel last minute, Yes! Can a client cancel because they don't like the condition of your home and your dogs, Yes. And if they do you are paid per your cancellation policy.

Tip for the future is to insist on a M&G prior to accepting the booking, if the client says no to this they aren't the right client for you and decline the booking request

Depending on what your settings are. I have mine set to allow cancellations the night before but anything later and I don’t allow it.

I like to ask questions before I book a stay, because majority of potential clients do not read your profile and only send out a request.

I always ask if their pets will be okay with my pets. If they like to play or be left alone. If they like to interact with other people or pets. If they ever been boarded, or if they were ever left with a stranger! I even ask if they know how their pets will react when the parents leave and their pet is suddenly alone with me. I know, sounds silly, but in all these years I have observed many dogs being sweet and fun when their owners come over for a meet and greet. But, everything changes, the second their parents leave. Understandable. But some dogs who have never ever even interacted with a stranger, are just unable to adjust or understand their parents are gone. It's hard.

So yes, ask all questions before booking, even before doing a meet and greet, so you don't waste your time, when people don't know how to communicate prior booking and won't inform you that their chihuahua who bites can NOT be around large dogs. Simple communication. But you have to ask the questions, because they usually won't. Good luck with everything.

Before I worked from home, I stayed first thing that I work from this time to this time day to day. People were so put off that I had a full time job and obviously didn't read my profile. Or same.thing about that I have two dogs and what breed they are. I've not accepted requests just based on how a conversation is or if the owner isn't responding to texts before setting up anything.

They have a right to cancel, just as we have a right to not accept.

Don't worry about it too much I actually didn't get a booking when I did a meet-and-greet because I have Trump stickers on my car

I think just because you prefer someone politically shouldn't matter. It's you as a person. Sorry about that

So you think people who supported hitler are cool too? Good to know
