Safety issue regarding other family members in home while I am pet sitting?

Potential client requests me as a pet sitter for 1 pet in her home. She states there is another family member there with her pet. I'm concerned that I will be pet sitting the family members pet also and not be paid. Also, I'm afraid of having the other family member with me overnight, I don't know her. Safety issue. What should I do?

Refuse the job. I would not stay at a strange home with another strange person. Go with your gut and refuse. I truly doubt she's going to find anybody who would do so. Her best bet is have the dog stay at the sitter's home.

I agree that you have to go with your gut instinct.

However, I have cared for pets in their home while other family members were there and/or coming & going. Simply stated, the dog-mom didn't trust the other family members to be responsible and dependable to fulfill her instructions. That was for dogs that I walked regularly for a long time though.
