Is there a way to ensure dog sitters have recieved their Covid vaccine before booking?

I'm considering having reserving a dog sitter, but my partner isn't comfortable with someone who hasn't received their Covid vaccine spending extended time in our apartment. Is there a way to verify - or does Rover - verify sitter vaccination during the pandemic?

We are in a public health crisis - and I believe Rover is evading responsibility by failing to have sitters state whether they and their household has been vaccinated for covid-19.

Just ask potential sitters? If you are the client interviewing people to pet sit and want someone who is vaccinated just ask them.

Rover does nothing and requires nothing in this area. According to its Terms of Service (Sections 2.2 and 2.6), Rover leaves it up to you, as a Pet Owner, to ascertain the suitability of any sitter found on this platform.

I am certain that policy was developed prior to covid. I remain disappointed

To resolve your valid concern, you could ask (in advance through the messages) for prospective sitter to show proof of vaccination during meet and greet. It’s recommended for meet and greet to start outside anyway. Some sitters who are vaccinated likely would understandably be willing to do so. I’’d suggest going forward in that way, rather than waiting for rover to advance in that area.

I agree - My concern is what happens if the sitter gets COVID and ends up incapacitated or in the hospital and can't care for my pet! I'll ask sitters, but would be better if Rover would add a checkbox or something for sitters to indicate their status. And then use that info in their rankings.

It's still a very legally grey area, I'm guessing Rover isn't doing that because they don't want to be sued.
