Owners had a family emergency and never confirmed, now they won't pay. Help?

Hey pals, I had a last minute request for two weeks, including over Thanksgiving, because they had a family emergency. I did the meet and greet the day of their request and they left town that night. I noticed a few days ago, near the end of the visit, that the booking had never been confirmed. I assumed that they had just missed it do to the family emergency. They came back a day early in the middle of the night (they live close and didn't want me to actually stay at their place, just be there during the day). I mentioned it to them about paying me and they said that they would get ahold of me today and they haven't yet. I have technically already done the job and it was never confirmed through Rover. I've never done this before. Do you have any tips for getting the owners to follow through and pay you for your services? Thanks.

I wouldn't start stressing over it just yet but hopefully you learned your lesson to always check that the reservation has been confirmed before you start the stay. As for this client, you did the work and you should get paid. If it was me personally I would give the client 24 hrs after they said they would pay before contacting them. (you don't want to be pushy) If 24hrs pass I would shoot them a message: =

Hi (Clients name), Hope Fido is doing, I sure miss that little guy. (something personal about her pet). Just as a reminder we need to finish up with the payment for my stay with Fido from date to date. The total came to $xxx. If you would please log into the Rover app and take care of that payment today . Should you have any questions or concerns don't hesitate to reach out to me.

Thank you again for choose me as Fido's dog sitter, I look forward to my next stay with Fido!
