Is it odd that my boyfriend comes with me?

So whenever I get a request I always tell my clients that I prefer to bring my boyfriend for safety reasons. Sometimes it scares them off and sometimes they are fine with it. Does anyone else do this? Every time they turn me down I feel embarrassed or be littled. I don't do it because I want to be with him, I simply do it because I just feel unsafe staying at someone else's house by myself for a couple of days. I do all the work obviously because its my job, but like I said he is really only their for my safety reasons.

I think it's completley fine and great you ask right away. I have 30+ 5 star reviews as a sitter. I'm responsible and trustworthy and so are the people I have over. I don't see a problem with being human and needing company in a creepy big house alone.

If you wanted to bring him to the meet & greet, and have him wait outside while you enter and check things out for yourself, that would probably go over fine. However, I don't think most clients want two strangers in their home (especially a couple potentially having normal loving activities).

Some pet owners who contact you may not actually need or prefer that you stay there with your boyfriend, but would be open to other solutions. I'd recommend you may consider offering your house sitting as a modified way. Discuss withe the client what are their needs, regards to the times of and number of walks. feeding daily.

Your rates look really low and your house sitting rate is only $6 more for up to 24 hours of care, so if you book as house sitting you may want to adjust that rate and document in Rover messages what agreement you reach with them ... or book each visit as a drop in or walk and apply a Negative "Cost Adjustment" to give the client a price both of you will agree to.

I'd guess that boarding wouldn't work for you because you have 2 special needs dogs and a cat a home.
