What Covid-19 precautions are you taking with your boarding dogs? Are you thinking ahead?

I live in an active COVID-19 outbreak community. How many other sitters have considered precautions to take to protect their health, family and clients from further spread?

For myself, I have implemented (or continued) the following practices:

  • Screening questions regarding household health (fever or cough in the past 14 days?) I also provide this info about my home to my clients.
  • I restrict what things can come with the dog to food, meds, leash and collar. All are wiped down with disinfectant or washed (leash and collar).
  • This one I always did anyway, but am hyper diligent now -- daily washing of bedding, wash bowls twice a day and sterilize, mop all floors with disinfectant.

Other ideas or practices?

Looks like you have it covered. As it is, i too have always done all these things except for the first one; however, have increased my Hosting rates given difficulty of getting sterilizing wipes and living-being wipes. Perhaps moot point since no one traveling and all doggie-stays got cancelled...

I've read Rover response to this and I'm glad chances of dogs carrying Coronavirus is low. https://www.rover.com/blog/a-message-to-the-rover-community-about-coronavirus-questions-and-concerns/ (https://www.rover.com/blog/a-message-to…)

I definitely think your safety measures are spot on. I don't host dogs in my home but do walks and drop ins and I'm carrying disposable gloves, hand sanitizer and washing my hands before leaving the house. I don't know my clients habits and some of them doesn't seem to clean their homes regularly so I'm somewhat concerned. Before this outbreak I've always washed my hands and avoided sitting but now I'm afraid of doorknobs, railings and keys.
