Suspicious owner - Scam Alert?
I suspected something was shady about a new request.
Owner had 2 German Shepards - she listed each at 30 lbs. Any pet professional knows full grown Shepards can be 100+ lbs. I thought one photo of one of the dogs looked almost photoshopped...there was a baby placed into the photo I guess to make it appear that the dog was super "friendly".
She had a creepy name, too, just another something that made my radar go up. Halfway through the conversation, she said my responses were "choppy" and could I just text her direct from my phone. I said no, info is private. Then she says, "But I'm choosing you! I trust you!" and over-complimenting before a Meet & Greet. Yes, some people are nice, but realistically, she laid it on a little too thick.
She said I could choose any 3 days of the week to visit the dogs - an owner that doesn't have clear details - you can come over anytime? Nope. I refused to schedule anything and archived the conversation. I went back today to check it, and Rover has removed her profile and sent me a warning not to communicate with this person because their account was flagged.
I'm happy Rover is looking out for us. I'm pretty intuitive about people right on, but it's good to see they are quick to investigate when we report. We have to watch out for each other. Report anything that seems off.
Has anyone else had this kind of request? I'm curious as to what they are actually doing to scam. Get ito our accounts?
I’ve been requested by this same person and she now wants to send payment via UPS and requested my name, phone, number and physical address. Her profile says she lives is San Francisco too. On the Initial communication I asked if she was located in Boise and she said I had the wrong number.
Where can I report this? I woke up to a strange request for a 100 lb American short-haired cat.
