Has anyone had someone contact them directly and want to pay directly into your checking account?

I just had a woman contact me, stating she needed "immediate dog boarding" because of a family emergency. She stated that she would deposit money directly into my checking account as soon as I gave her my checking account information. I was to pick up the dog at a "designated destination" tomorrow, as soon as I got my deposit...when I pressed her for a "meet & greet", she said she would meet me with the "certified check" at 3 p.m.....I then pressed her for a "meet & greet" again to which she replied "on Rover" that she would meet me at 3....at approximately 2:47 p.m., she messaged me and said she would have to "reschedule"....I tried calling the number directly, and it was a non existent number... Has anyone ever had this happen to you? This was my first dog sitting job, and I was really looking forward to starting with Rover!

I had some of those contacts too. Always the same my dog needs looked after while I’m moving to the area. Total scam and should be reported to rover.

as others said its a scam. secondly, you should not accept any payment outside of rover other than tips. If you do you void the rover guarantee which doesn't only protect them it protects you too. if something happens to the dog and you voided the guarantee you would then be liable.

SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Obviously, anyone who starts right off the bat wanting your bank account information is totally a scammer.

Just stick to communications and bookings on the Rover platform. Anything out of the ordinary is a red flag. Report them to Rover Customer Service and move on.
