Do you think this is a scam?

Hello Everyone.. I'm fairly new to Rover, so I'm still navigating the waters. I received a request today to walk this couple's two dogs, 3 times a week, at whatever time works best for me... The person I was messaging asked if we could text because he was "only getting your messages in bits." As we were texting, he let me know he wanted me to pick up dog supplies on occasion and he'd pay me an extra $100 for it. He also asked if I took checks, as it was the only way he could pay me at the time. He then said his wife could write me a check, and send it via 1-day shipping. I told him that it would probably be easier for him to just leave the check on the counter, to which he replied "Great, what name should I draft on the check and I will be needing an address to which payment can be mailed to. Thanks. Allen Weber" completely disregarding the fact that I offered to just take the check. I haven't replied to his last message as it sounded scammy.

As I typed this out, it clearly sounds like a scam... But I'm just wondering if everyone else agrees/has been scammed in a similar way. Thanks! :)

Scam. And, yes, my very first request was very similar to this.
