4-star review from repeat client?

I have a number of testimonials, but so far just one Rover client. I asked the client for a review, and after the first two walks, she left a positive comment and a 4-star review. That seems reasonable to me (I think I did a good job, but I did have a couple issues with the app during the walk at first). However, it also feels a little funny because it seems that virtually everyone has either a 5-star review or no review. This client is repeatedly booking me. I imagine all I can do is be positive and keep walking her dog. Just wondering if anyone thought this was odd or if I should worry about having a 4 star review from my only client so far...

Wow, well maybe to play devils advocate. She just clicked on it and then clicked out.

It’s odd that this question from 2019 got refreshed to the top.

I see that on Rover you now have nine repeat clients with a five star rating, so you’ve moved in the right direction.

It would be great if clients could understand, that 5 star rating isn't a small thing for sitters, and keeping a perfect rating isn't just something that's nice to have. A new client isn't looking for a 4 star sitter, everyone wants the best they can afford. As a client you 100% have the right to give an honest review, and if you feel like the sitter wasn't up to your standards it's totally within those rights to give a less than perfect score. But to then expect the sitter to ever work for you again, potentially putting their livelihoods at risk just to make you happy, is utter fantasy.

A repeat client usually leaves 4 stars BY ACCIDENT. They understand how important reviews are. Most of us will reach out to them and communicate with them so the error can be fixed. Happened to me numerous times.

No don’t keep walking it’s just her personal rating system. I wouldn’t if she’s gonna keep leaving four stars she’s just gonna keep sabotaging you. If it’s constantly 4 stars it’s just ruining your ratings. It’s worrisome and stressful. I just got my first four star and it seems completely unfair and unnecessary. In not rewarding people who do that and you’ll get more. You just need like two more 5 star to be up to 5

The same happened to me. A repeat client left a 4 star rating. I reached out to the client asking if there was something i've done wrong and/or need to improve when it comes to my services. Client had no idea she left 4 stars, she believed she left a 5 star rating and must have accidentally clicked on 4 stars. I have been fortunate when it comes to my clients, I have always been able to communicate and ask questions, so you could try the same approach and ask her directly. She can explain it to you better than people here on this forum. Good luck.

I recommend you speak with your client and ask her what you could do to improve on your service. Do not mention the stars just act like you want to do better and need suggestions. See what your client says and implement if it makes sense.
