Bad reviews? How to proceed?

Hi all!

I've stayed at 5 stars up until today. It's weird because it says i have 9 reviews/testimonials but i can't see the most recent reviews. I know one of them was a 5 star from a recent client but i have no idea what the other one is. I haven't received an email about the 2nd mystery review. Unfortunately, last week i had my first not so great dog walking experience. I had an owner that was watching his GF's dogs for a month and apparently, he hates them(his words). He wanted to just call me and have me pop over to walk the dogs when he deemed it convenient for him. Of course, giving the best customer service i explained that i could be flexible but ultimately would need to book a time or window of time because i do walk other dogs etc. He didn't seem to like this, the dogs or the fact that one of the dogs pooped in the house prior to my arrival. The owner overall didn't seem thrilled and i think that he may have left me a low star rating but i can't check to be sure. If this is the case...what do i do? I'd be so sad if this affected the business i do on Rover because i really love getting to take care of animals as my job as i'm sure you all do too! TIA

You have 8 posted testimonials, none of which generate any star rating, because they are not from a verified Rover stay. If one of your clients left you a 5-star review, simple math would dictate that the other gave you 0 (if possible) since you have 2.5 stars.

Sorry, you got a bad review from this client. Unfortunately, there is little you can do but continue to give the best service you can to future clients, and get more 5 star reviews, and then eventually the overall star count will get better over time. And I wouldn't accept any future bookings from this client. Best of luck to you.

I appreciate you taking the time to comment! I’ve been doing just as you suggested. My clients and I know the kind of dog walker/pet care taker that I am and that’s what matters. Unfortunately, I fear that my lower rating will impact If and how frequently I get new clients. Thanks again!

If they left an actual review you could very kindly respond to it. However, it sounds like this person only did the stars which doesn't allow the ability to respond (to my knowledge). Most people know - or they should - that not every experience is going to go perfect and some people are just not nice, so they will ignore 1 low star if there are a bunch of 5 stars. If they read the reviews and they are all glowing, most people will not hold that lower rate against you (I would hope). I would definitely not book with that person again and I would fill out the review you can do for the dog (not for the dog but the owner). I know people can't see this, but Rover can. Good Luck!
