How do I tell clients I will be on vacation?

I will be getting married this June, along with our honeymoon/family vacation in July. What would be the best way to inform my regular clients of my absence? Letter, email, verbal communication? Should I add what the occasion is? People seem to be a little more understanding when you tell them your situations but I do not want to be so personal. Should I also inform my not so regular clients? They bring their dogs about once every other month for boarding.

I'm also hoping I won't lose them to another sitter while I am away. Should I recommend them to a local boarding facility rather than another Rover sitter? Don't want to sound selfish or bias, but I also know the owner of the boarding facility and would rather have my clients go to her.

I think notifying clients in more service dependent than others. If you have frequent walks or drop-ins I would text the client to let them know you will be away, and if you can refer another walker/sitter that would be a good idea. For boarding or house sitting clients I would deal with them if and when they request a booking, and of course if you wish to refer them to the boarding kennel that is also okay. Congrats on your pending nuptual.

Congratulations on the upcoming wedding! If you have clients that you are fairly certain will want to book you during that time, definitely let them know you'll be out for the duration. There's nothing wrong with letting them know why, especially if you have a friendly relationship with them. If you know of a good sitter to take them during that times, by all means offer. For clients that are less regular, no need to alert them unless they try to book. Make sure you mark your calendar as unavailable. I have been in the situation where I had to tell clients I could not take their dogs due to me being out of town or being fully booked. If they feel you are best for their pet, they will be back. :)

Let them know right away and also update your calendar. The more time they have the easier for them to find a replacement for the time your are gone. Congrats

Little late but i havd alot of regulars. For i been on rover almost 3 years im finally tskinh a vacation in 2020. I messaged all my regulars to let them know almost a year ahead i will be going on vacation and at times they say they will work around my schedule for they love me, dogs love me and how i have worked with them n their crazy schedule. If you give a heads up they typically work around your times. Also block in your calender as well so your not upsetting new clients for your calender days are open

I think you all are crazy for telling people your going on vacation. That lets people know you will be gone and when. Hope none of the people you tell, tell others, because burglars love that kind of information. You don't owe your clients any explanations. Just say you have other plans and won't be able to watch their pets this time.
