Did letting Rover edit your rates help you get more clients?

Hello! I found out today that I have Rover rate editing enabled in my settings. I received a request from a client for $35 dollars a night instead of my usual $39 a night. I was wondering if allowing Rover to determine my rates helps me to find clients I otherwise would never have gotten. I prefer setting my own rates but I realize I've had this setting enabled the whole time. Has allowing Rover to edit your rates helped or hurt your business? I feel like allowing Rover to change my rates will help me find clients in the long run, even though it might lower my rates to something lower than what I'm used to charging. Thoughts?

Hmm You're saying that Rover changed your booking rate? I didn't think that was possible. I would call Rover to support to find out why that happened. Regarding your question of being able to edit your own rates, I love that ability! Typically I use it to give a discount to repeat clients but I also use it to increase the cost if someone is leaving their dog with me longer than the normal amount of hours included in a stay (for example a 16 hour doggy day care stay is longer than a typical 10 or so hours or a pick up for boarding far exceeds the 24 hour time frame). Sadly, so many Rover sitters have their rates set low that if you are much higher you might not get the bookings even if you're the best in the area. But I'd love to see sitters start charging rates that are more reflective of what we should earn instead of undercutting so that we can get the business. When I was new I was on the average-low end for my area to build my business but now I'm on the average-high end. Being able to change rates by client has helped me in cases where I want to offer repeat clients their original rate. Good luck!!
