Would you sit for a client with “outdoor” cats?

A client I’m meeting would like me to drop in on her 7 cats. Half of them are outdoor cats that only come inside for food. Under one description, she mentions to make sure to keep one of them away from the road as they have poor judgment. What’s your take on this? I honestly don’t think I’m comfortable caring for her animals since they are allowed to free roam outside.

I'd just honestly state that you don't think you're well matched to her needs and suggest support may be able to help find someone.

Likewise, I would not want to be responsible for pets that stay outside, come & go as they please, especially since one has poor judgement about road traffic.

You should discuss this with the client directly, because you only read it in the description. I have a client with an outdoor cat, but when I cat sit her, the cat stays indoors even though she's not liking it. But when the owner is gone, the cat must stay home. I can't possibly imagine how you would keep an outdoor cat out of the road she mentions. Just talk to her in person and see if you can work out an agreement that you both agree with and everybody can be safe. Good luck.
