Behavior returning home?

Something I've heard a few times from owners is that their pets "just aren't quite the same" after returning home after boarding. That doesn't surprise me - the dogs have been out of their normal environment. While they ahve been well cared for at my house, it's going to take some dogs a little while to get back to normal.

Does anyone have experience with this? How do you handle this comment/complaint?

Thanks!

It's really hard to make an appropriate comment without more information. If I was told something general like that, I'd likely ask for more details. What was observed that was different?

Most of them aren't quite the same. They miss the other dogs and fun they had when they were vacationing with you! I hear that too :)

I agree with Deb. Personally I've never had anyone make that comment but that's not to say it doesn't happen. It could be that my clients expect things to take some time to normalize or maybe they get back into their routine quickly. If it's only been 1 or 2 clients out of dozens or more I likely wouldn't think much of it. The first thing I would ask myself is "Is this client high-maintenance?" If the answer is yes, I might just attribute it to that. If the client seems fairly even-keeled then I would definitely do as Deb suggested and ask the clients to provide some details. Especially if it's multiple clients. It would be even more important if it was preventing repeat bookings; there might be some small thing that you can do to make the transition easier. Then again you could just be getting owners that are more sensitive. Not sure if that helps but I hope you can figure it out!
