Introduce dogs one at a time and outside on a leash Have crates available same for X-pens and baby gates to keep dogs apart Always always feed separately! NO RAWHIDES as they can cause fights also be careful with treats Have a First Aid kit on hand
Have a good supply of leashes and extra collars available – as you may need them Many sitters attach a tag with their info and phone on it in case the dog gets away A good vacuum and lots of cleaning supplies also dog shampoo if you need to bathe them Aways have flea control products and a flea comb available just in case Good bushes and combs to provide coat care Belly bands and baby diapers can be a life send for dogs that pee in your home and its almost guaranteed this will happen from time to time Some dogs will develop separation anxiety when away from their home and owners, this can be very trying for a sitter, so you have to be mentally prepared for dogs that bark incessantly, pace your house, and may not sleep much during the first few days – this also means you may even lose sleep Never let a dog outside with constant supervision, not even for a quick pee break Maintain a good sense of humor and be tolerant of clients requests – and don’t be afraid to say no or accept a booking you are uncomfortable with Establish drop off and pick up times that work for you - don’t let the client determine them as they may want very early or very late times that coincide with their flight departure and return.
