How many picture would you recommend sending during a sit?

How often would you recommend a picture be sent to owner? Typically I send 3 daily updates..do you think I can should send more?

I've done pet drop in's for about 10 clients now and sent dozens of photos each day. And all the clients marveled over the pictures and commented about them in their reviews. But the last client who was on vacation reported that my multiple photos froze his phone. Oops. No wi-fi? Lesson learned.

In hindsight, how I would handle is to ask the client if they prefer as many as possible pics or a specific number. I also would not forward the pics all at once. In the future, I will send pics one at a time more slowly in case they are away from a wi-fi connection.

I normally send 2-3 pics every 2-3 hours while boarding or during daycare. It might seem like a lot, but I always assure the owner that there’s no pressure to respond - it’s just that I want them to feel like they’re apart of their dog’s day...Clients/customers have always responded very well 🥰

Since I'm in charge, I let them know. For boarding I let them know I send updates every 2 or 3 days. I like to ask if they'll have good reception. Usually they'll volunteer what city they're going to. I always send at lunchtime. That way not getting disturbed early morning or late night due to time difference.

The day they drop off I send about 10 within the hour. Then after 2 or 3 days I send about 4- 6 pictures. With those two sends I'm able to discern if I need to send more or if that's sufficient. I honestly don't even say anything with them unless owner initiates conversation.

Personally I'm busy caring for their dog and others (going on walks, training, dog play dates) so it's not usually convenient for me to constantly take pictures. My pics are well lighted with their dog in sharp focus in different situations. I rather send 1 high quality pic than 10 pics of dog's butt while walking. I find it rare that the owner starts a conversation, but if they do then I go into detail. I have repeat clients and I know who's the helicopter parents lol. Sitters always claim that owners want a ton of updates. However I bet you anything if they did less the owner would still say the same thing!

If you can send it by text. Select that option on the app or computer. To be notified for bookings. Oh man, that has come in handy. My dog owner was in the middle of nowhere. They called it the country. They were surprised they got the photo. I would say every 2 days for a long visit. A short one like a week the same. A few days, 5 they aka Rover turns it into a slide at the end. You and the owner can see it. 1 day just 1.

For boarding, I generally send 1-2 updates with 1-3 photos per day. However that depends a lot on the owners; I usually let them know I generally send about 1 update with photos per day but can flex depending on what they'd like. Most people are happy with this - they aren't getting tons of messages from me every day but get a sense of how the past 12-24 hours have gone, including photos. But like some of the others, especially when you're starting out, it's good to ask. Once you get into a routine you find the right balance, but want to be flexible for those that want more or less.

I would echo the other commenters who suggested that you ask the client how many photos they want. Most owners do enjoy receiving multiple photos, but there can be many reasons why a client might not want that.

Bear in mind that the client might be busy on their trip, but also anxious about their dog. When your name pops up on their phone they will feel they need to drop everything to check that their beloved dog is okay and that there isn't some emergency or even just a kind of pressing query ("Mr Bojangles had an upset tummy and pooped all over your lounge. Where do you keep your cleaning products?"). Instead they find 35 photos of Mr Bojangles playing with his squeaker. Then the same happens an hour later. It's not always appreciated.

I've also had it where the client is so anxious that they tell me specifically not to contact them except if it's urgent and that they will contact me and ask for an update from time to time.

This should all be something to discuss with the client; a lesson I've had to learn is that it's not about me and how much I love taking photos of cute dogs. 😀

I love receiving photos so i take tons of pictures. I try to send one per day, if the owner responds right away and is excited about my pictures i'll send a few more. I dont' want to bombard them but i also want them to know their dog is well cared for and having lots of fun!

When I meet with a house sitting client I ask their preference for communication. In the absence of a tangible answer I try to do one in the morning and one at night. If it is a long stay or the sitters are already comfortable with me I just try to make a point of sending photos when a cute moment arises that I happened to take a photo of.

For walks or check-ins I just do the minimum because the unique photo ops are limited.

For drop-in visits, I take about 8-10 photos per visit. I myself love receiving lots of pictures of my dogs when I'm away. And it seems my clients do too. In my opinion, t's better to send too many photos than too little.

For boarding and daycare, I'm home full-time. So I typically send 5-6/day. For house sitting stays, I send about 3 per day. For walks/drop-ins, I send one per pet per visit.

I usually send about 4 a day of each pet. Usually around breakfast, lunch, dinner, and bed times. I’ve never had any complaints that I sent too many or not enough!

Good question! If the Meet and Greet goes well, I ask them how many pictures that they would like to receive each day. I get many different answers from, "As many as I can get!" to: "None at all." I find that if I ask them up front, then I will know what they would like, and then I don't have to guess. I usually send about 6 a day, showing them eating, playing, or on a walk. I just boarded a beautiful Poodle mix, and she took great pictures, so I took a lot of them. When the owners returned, they told me that they were so happy to get all the pictures. Then there's the owner that asked me not to send photo's. She said that she didn't need them, she has full confidence that I take great care of her 2 girls. Every time they get close to my house the dogs start getting excited. So, I have found that asking each dog owner what they would like is the best strategy.
