Do you usually charge them for one night trial?

Hello,

I've spoke to two different potential clients who mentioned they would like to schedule a 1 night trial with me before booking with me for the month. But I have never heard of this. Do you usually charge for the trial night or is it free? I would like to hear your insights.

Thank you!!

Normally kennel boarding places offer free trial day but not overnight... I would not do it for free. If they havent mentioned paying I would charge them. For all you know they could just be looking for free boarding for 1 night

If a client wants to do a “trial” before booking a longer stay I recommend that they either book me for 1 day of daycare or 1 overnight. Never do “trials” for free you’re still providing them with your service and you should be properly compensated for it.

I would never do it for free. You are still giving up your time to watch the dog for the night and it's the same amount of work as if it wan't a trail night, so you need to be paid for it.

Yes,generally you'd charge your usual rate. It's a good way for everyone to try it out before booking a longer service.

I would also never sit for free. In fact, I've started charging slightly higher for a new client if it's only a one-nighter, to cover the gas to the meet n greet. This may be a red flag regarding the owner.
