Do you think that some owners have an unconscious bias toward gender matching the sitter with their dog?

(Question really says it all, lol. Have noticed that so far I've only been booked for boy dogs, but it could be a coincidence).

Ha, I am sure it's a coincidence.

I myself have noticed in my own circle that females usually own a male dog, while men buy female dogs. Again, in my circle of friends :D

I have a male dog, and I only hire female dog walkers though. It's just a personal preference.

My experience is that pet parents often express a gender preference of their sitter, regardless of their dog's gender.

I'm a male walker, and I have a both male and female dog clients, though maybe a few more of them are female. Several of them chose me even though their female dogs had previous fears around men. All dogs love me so no problem! However.. nearly every single human client of mine happens to be females....🤔

My mom and I have girl dogs and would only book a girl sitter, it's not because the dogs are girls though. As single women we just feel more comfortable letting a women in our home then a man.

I have two clients who chose me to walk their male dogs, both are big and strong and felt I would be best suited to handle them. They must be right because 3 years later I am still walking them M-F
