What should I do about a dog marking?

I have a male american bulldog in my care and he keeps marking in my house! Do you guys charge extra for something like this or do you just get a diaper and charge the owners for the purchase? He has done this three times and its only the first day!

Ah yes marking. Anyone who has boarded has dealt with this. It seems a lot of sitters are not adequately prepared initially to minimize property damage to their homes & belongings. And once a guest dog has started, even after it stops, it's an uphill battle at time with future guests adding their signature scent.

Here are some of the tactics sitters use in this regard:

  • Leash and tether dog to you, so you go everywhere together and you can immediately correct &direct to appropriate area.
  • Crate or gate in a more easily cleaned indoor floor section of the home when unobserved.
  • Use belly bands or diapers. Choices include disposable or reusable and Purchase ready made or DIY project (pantiliner applied to underwear) . The owners may or may not compensate you, so that needs to be your judgement call.

I asked the owner if he marks and they said no, not at all! So to my surprise when im watching TV the guy just peed all over my couch corner.. I have this boy for 4 more nights, wish me luck!

Many dogs who are 100% house trained in THEIR home will pee in YOUR home - welcome to pet care

I have a couple different size male wraps. I go to the Dollar store & get mini-pads. Then I just keep it on dog until I see he has become relaxed enough to stop marking.

Do you charge the client extra for this??
