When do you offer gift bags or welcome home gifts?

After being on Rover a few months, I have just now started receiving clients and have been reading posts about leaving gift bags or something nice for when the owners come back home. I have done stuff like this before, but I tend to pick and chose which clients to leave goody bags for. For instance, if they are gone 3 days or longer I often try to leave a goody bag of some sort but if it's just one night or a drop in visits I usually just go with a thank you card.

How do you decide who to leave gift bags for? If you have a repeat client do you leave them a gift bag after every booking? Thanks for your help!

I offer drop in visits and will give a small gift bag with a handwritten thank you note and my card to all new clients on the last day of their visit. I've gotten great feedback and many repeat clients doing this. For repeat clients, they'll get gifts on special occasions such as holidays or if I know they have a birthday coming up.

Many sitters offer a gift bag after every booked stay regardless of stay length, it is a nice gesture and shouldn't cost more than a few dollars and shows the clients you care about them and their pets.

I’ve only had one client so far, but I knit dishcloths and think that is a nice gift to give since it’s homemade.

Leaving a small gift for your clients is a thoughtful gesture and it will almost 100% ensure you are going to get a good review on Rover. One of my clients gave me a 5 star review and she shared my profile on her social media account, which multiplies my exposure. Stop by a local pet store and grab a few toys that are on clearance. Check the greeting card aisle for some cute Thank You cards. Rover provides them on their website, too.

In the card, speak about your experience and ask if they are going out of town soon to please consider booking you again with their pet. A P.S. note could be "please take a minute to review your experience with me as ___'s dog sitter on Rover".
