If I write someone back on website, does it text them?

I'm a little bit confused about how all of this works. For some of my conversation with my first client, I was texting her from my phone, but then I wrote one message on my laptop. Do these messages all get texted to her phone? Or does she only receive them by text if I text them? Hope this makes sense.
