How do I go about addressing damages to my home? [closed]

I have had a dog staying with us for a few days. When we leave our home instead of crate training we put our dogs in the laundry/mud room - its not a small room and the our dogs our really comfortable there. The owner did not tell us that the dog did not like confined spaces and the dog caused significant damage to my door and door frame. This has also prevented us from being able to leave the home the past week in fear of more damages that would occur so someone is always home. I do not want to upset the owner by asking for reimbursement for damages and I tried to sand down the door and door frame as well as repaint it but it looks terrible. What do I do?

Your profile clearly states your husband works from home and "someone will always be around". That was probably a reason why the owner chose your services, because he needed someone who is always around.

Thank you, I thought my profile said someone would always be around with the exception of the occasional errand - welp we ran an errand - I'll make sure I edit that part of my profile. Thank you for bringing that to my attention.

You are responsible for the dog in your care and for your damages. Do not ask the owner to cover it because they weren't there when it happened. Leaving a guest dog alone can result in damages.

What Lenka said. What you have here is a learning experience. Now you know to specifically ask how pets do alone, and in a confined space. If you ask for reimbursement you risk a bad review, which is something you want to avoid when you start out.
