Should I charge extra for a client who wants me to stay with her pup full-time for two weeks?

Should I charge extra/how should I charge extra for this? A client wants me to stay with her pup and cat for two weeks for a house sitting for two weeks, nearly full time.

If they want you to stay during the day as well, I would absolutely charge more. Usually an overnight is 24 hours of care but if you have to leave the house or work, that's also included. If they say to literally stay I'd add another $15-$25 to your daily fee.

Thank you everyone! I spoke with the owner and brought up the extra pricing and she agreed that it was absolutely fair and that she thought I should add an extra fee for me being there all day as well.

Thank you!

In a word yes. Normally an overnight is from evening or bedtime to morning (up to 12 hours). Most families understand that we won't stay all day. I would charge extra to stay during the day unless you need the opportunity to house sit. My rates are set according to work involved or an agreed upon rate. I would suggest time and a half to double your rate for both day and night.

Some questions to ask yourself would be: How much work is involved? Do you walk the pup during the day? If so, how many times? How much would you make doing daily visits for others during the day?

Be sure to think things through to make a decision that's fair to both the client and yourself.
