Any suggestions on how to get more people to see your profile and get more bookings?

Hey fellow Rover Sitters,

I'm curious if anyone has any advice on how to get more clientele? I got a lot of requests around spring break and even though I responded almost immediately I was not able to get anyone booked. Seems like a lot of the times they have already booked with someone else or they don't follow through. And for the last week or two, it's just been dead. Any advice on what I can do to change it or any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Can I get your profile link so that I can look, too?

Search this forum as there has been a lot of suggestions. But, what I do: (I don't advertise on CL anymore, didn't help me either)

Get business cards if you don't have them *You can use your promo code on rover cards but the shipping is very expensive;

Go to Pet Friendly Apts, Hotels, etc. and introduce yourself. Ask if you can leave your cards for the residents.
Go to local veterinarian/groomers/small business, etc and do the same; Do watch CL for rescue org./humane society/PetSmart Charities doing a local Adoption Clinic and join rescue groups pages. Also get to know the organizer of the rescue groups well for referrals. (Donate $/items they need-you can find great pet related items at garage sales and thrift shops); Connect with Realtors, Dog Trainers- Another great connection. Set up a FB page and promote yourself (don't forget twitter/Instagram and any other media). *Then be patient...requests will come in and can be overwhelming. *Do a m&g and "don't" take dogs that aren't a good fit out of desperation. It becomes a problem later on-learning curve.

Do search this forum for more suggestions and good luck.

Your profile is excellent and very professional. Love it. You have so much to offer and you should be getting many many clients :) In my humble opinion :

  1. Advertise on Craigslist and NextDoor. I got about 75% of my regulars through CL and NextDoor.

  2. Your photo is gorgeous, but many people LOVE huge over the board smiles. Trust me :D Use a picture of you smiling big. Even too big. It helps.

  3. Change the profile line to something very catchy, something special that you have to offer, what others don't . People usually look up the list of sitters and your line needs to be catchy. I wouldn't use the "diamond...." but rather something about your skills.

I hope this helps. It sure worked for me :)

I tried CL and got nothing from it, I haven't signed up with ND yet but I have other accounts. I was actually just thinking the picture needs changing so I'm gonna see to change that and the headline I thought was funny a kind of play on words. :) But thank you for the kind words and feedback :)

I advertise in Facebook once a month, about every 3 months I send a reminder to my friends, and also have advertise in Next door Hope this helps .

All that I've gotten from Craigslist is weirdos and pervs -- don't ask!!!

  • I advertise on Nextdoor and Facebook.

  • I also am involved with lots of rescue groups in my area. I offer them free stays or day care to give them a break and the dogs one too, as they can run and play with my dogs in our huge back yard.

  • I also offer drop-off and pick-up locations for rescue donations and volunteer to help the rescue groups.

  • I just recently partnered with a professional mobile grooming service in my area and offer them her services during their stay with me. I just pass their info along to the groomer and she takes it from there. I am not involved with any of her payments or anything, that is strictly between them. We give each other shout outs on our facebook pages to help each other grow.

-Network with other local companies that are in the "pet" category, like local pet supply shops, etc. I reached out for sponsorship and donations for a pet Halloween contest and they graciously offered donations for prizes. Also, you can both give shout out posts about each others services on facebook and nextdoor. Free local networking is probably the best you can get. Also, I deal with small local businesses not huge chain stores. So I see it as locals helping locals grow our businesses.

I have a FB page as well as one on Instagram. In each post I make I have info with my promo code and a link to my Rover site and website. I also tag dog groups and areas of town that I want clients in.
